Stuffed after a good lunch with the team, posh kebabs are lovely although the charcoal and BBQ smell will be on your clothes for the rest of the day ;-) Very good value though and friendly staff.

The outside appearance of the restaurant leaves it looking like a late night kebab shop. However, when you look at the menu, you realise that it is a kebab shop, but doing some extremely different. Don't get me wrong, it's not a fancy restaurant. It's more like a cafe in style than anything else.

The service was fast and friendly, and not very expensive. For a shared starter, plus a main each, and 2 cans of drink, it was £29 in total. The mains were pretty large, which were shish-style kebabs served with rice.

We only spotted it by chance, but it was easily the best shish kebabs that I'd ever had, and far better than the pitta bread + salad style you see at late night kebab shops.

Arya, now called Charcoal Inn, is a Persian restaurant in the former location of Efes Mangal. It looks quite unprepossessing from the outside, but actually the interior has been decorated to make it feel more like a restaurant, rather than a takeaway, making it stand out from some of other joints in the vicinity.

Food is standard Persian fare - mainly kebabs and grilled meats, but also some stews as well. The restaurant is unlicensed and you can bring your own alcohol. Some of the earlier reviewers seem to show an ignorance of Persian food - being disappointed that kashke bademjaan is an aubergine and garlic paste served with flat bread. Well, duh, of course it is. If you are unsure of something on the menu, then ask for advice. The waitress is friendly enough.

The service is quick and efficient and the food was delicious. My only criticism is that my vegetarian ghormeh sabzi skimped on the kidney beans a little, but at £6.00 with a large plate of rice, I feel that it was reasonable enough.

There was an interesting mix of people there - some Iranians, some rowdy students, a couple of workmen in hi-vis jackets and a couple. It seems to attract a lot of passing trade. I would recommend this restaurant for a casual meal with friends, rather than a romantic dinner date. It 's not somewhere to linger.

I have visited this restaurant twice in as many weeks and on both occasions the food was excellent, the service very friendly! The kebabs are delicious and Ghormeh Sabzi was fragrant and tasty! Served with rice and salad an all round pleasant experience. The restaurant isn't licensed but you are welcome to take your own wine but you will be charged corkage which I found slightly annoying at a pound per head! However, a great find and will definitely return in The New Year!

We have eaten in and had take always several times and have always found the food fantastic and great friendly service. Serving traditional kebabs and a selection of Persian cuisine. We are very surprised by some of the reviews and would certainly say if you want authentic Persian food with an unpretentiousness atmosphere this is a great place to visit !
