WOW! Great place. Went with my wife after the birth of our son and we were just taken back.

Great place, super location, magical food (the breakfast is possibly the BEST breakfast I have ever had!!) - we even had beer and champagne in our room on arrival.

The only gripe is that the office is a tad close to reception and on a few occassions, the staff could be heard arguing - but thats life!!

If you get a chance to stay here, do it. You won't regret it.

Gorgeously quirky, unique hotel. Modern but comfortable with attention to detail, both in terms of the rooms but also in terms of service. After 4 hours in the car, being offered a glass of wine at reception was heaven! Big bed and bathroom with double ended bath. Only slight negative was the noise from outside if you opened the windows at night, but not a huge issue. Oh, and don't bother with the restaurant immeadiately next door, its lacks atmosphere and the food was average (starter was def heated in the microwave!). Would definitely recommend! the hotel though!

Super little gem of a hotel (and I stay in a lot of hotels). Nice little touches such as a glass of wine on arrival, well appointed room with very comfortable bed and free wi-fi. Great location with several nice eateries within walking distance. Cracking breakfast in hotel with some of the best sausages it has been my pleasure to scoff while watching ducks out the window (in middle of Leeds no less). Friendly staff and exceptional value. Parking needs a bit of sussing out for first timers like me but is easily solved. All in all if you fancy something a little different in the middle of town this will hit the mark.

Can't agree with the reviewers who found it shabby. Our room was in perfect condition (canal view), spacious and well equipped. It was above the restaurant so noisy but not really at times when you would want to sleep. The few staff we dealt with were very good; friendly and efficient. Glass of wine at check in is a nice touch but I thought the Internet/wi fi charges were excessive. Its not a cheap hotel so another £10 or so for that seems a bit high. It's close to the city so walking distance to restaurants, bars etc. Parking is a bit of a problem. Pay and display outside (max 2 hours) or a multi storey a bit of a hike away. Overall though a really nice experience; just a couple of negatives.

Even after a number of years, 42 The Calls is still the benchmark for 'Boutique Hotels'. Although looking slightly worn, (but not shabby) the hotel has a charm and individuality that is unrivaled by many of the newer additions. Exposed beams and brickwork give a hint at the hotel's previous life as a riverside wharf. Our room, overlooking the river, was large and airy with fantastic view over the river to Brewery Wharf, where Leeds next generation of WAGS seem to congregate at night. However, the noise was minimal, given that it was a Friday and the solid wooden shutters kept it quiet. Beds are vast with soft, Egyptian cotton duvets and plump feather pillows. Staff is really friendly, efficient and enthusiastic. Breakfast is served downstairs, overlooking the river and, although we didn't take breakfast, the room looked really nice. Adjacent to reception, a small lounge area has an honour bar with good quality house wine and newspapers and is a pleasant spot to unwind after a day's sightseeing. Parking is possible outside to unload bags, before being directed to a nearby multi-storey car park. Leeds has now reinvented itself as a leading city for culture, shopping and restaurants and makes a fantastic venue for a weekend away and 42 The Calls is a hard-to-beat place to stay.

Me and my partner stayed here bank holiday weekend (sat night) and have to say that we were very happy with our stay.

We arrived in leeds rather early with the intention of a bit of retail therapy so decided to drop our luggage off at the hotel first thing. The hotel was easily found. We were kinldy told that our bags would be taken to our room once it was ready. and that if we wished that we could call back before 4pm and see if the room was avilable.

Once we booked it later that day, we were offered a glass of wine to be taken to our room. we were then show to our room after a fast and painless book in with well presented and well spoken reception staff.

I had requested a river view room and was not disappointed. the room itself (210)wasnt massive, but very comfortable with a massive bed right in the middle of the room. i have to say the bed has to be the most comfortable bed i have evers lept in! me and my partner 'lost' each other during the night!

the theme seems to be a mixutre of the old and the new but i have to say some of the older seems to be a bit tired and could do with a bit of brightning up. very old fashioned painting etc. the bathroom was lovely...

We went out into leeds in the evening into the night and we would highly receommed going over the river and trying the bars etc over that side. we ended up having a lovely meal in 'cafe guru' which seemed to top our night off nicely.

Breakfast was nice, a large selection of fruits, cereals, jams, bread etc and then the cooked breckfast's were to die for with very strong coffe (just what was needed)!

all in all we really enjoyed our saty at 42 the calls, so much so that we are going for another romantic getaway in November

Had a lovely one night mid-week stay in a king executive overlooking the river. It was expensive but we like to splash out occasionally so that we are as comfortable as possible - a nice big bed goes a long way to ensuring that. I think the location is excellent for the shopping and the nightlife and although there isn't a carpark the one at the market isn't far and there are on street meters for an hour or so. I think I will let the pictures do the talking. This room (303) was £122.50 without breakfast - which is a lot but we needed to be in this area of leeds on this occasion. we had no problems with noise but it was a Tuesday evening.
