The hotel is well located near the station and Briggate, though this does mean some noise at night. The rooms are fine. We got an excellent rate which became a real bargain as it included a meal in the brasserie.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times. This time I ended up with a larger room than normal. The rooms vary quite a bit. The room, bed, bathroom and facilities were excellent. Bar and restaurant are a bit dark and trendy which may be fine on a Friday night when you are out with friends or having a romantic dinner with your wife however when on business and you want to be able to read anewspaper or book it is a bit irritating. Food is reasonably good but not exceptional. Not cheap. Breakfast is fine. Mini bar is unimaginative. TVs are ice age and should be replaced by newer versions. TV Reception is poor (I noticed this before but was only bothered yesterday as I tried to watch the Paralympics. Relatively poor value for money conmpared to other business hotels I stay in major cities. Very convenient for anybody arriving on the train and visiting the centre.

I have visited this hotel before and it's only got better second time around. It's a lovely hotel and the little details are great! The staff are very polite and friendly also. We had a meal off a select menu but the food was gorgeous! I had the lamb and it was outstanding! You really get what you pay for and I would definitely stay there again, and recommend this hotel!!

Receptionist was really friendly and helpful. She seemed genuinely interested.

Booked a standard room and it was really nice but could have been better for the money eg large dust covered cobweb hanging from the ceiling, paint to wallpaper where skirting boards had been painted and lots of paint to floor tiles in bathroom where walls had been painted, nets to window snagged in several places and in need of replacing. Had to remove a silverfish from bathroom floor.

Bed was really comfy but when I lifted the side valance the bed was scruffy.

Room service wasn't cheap but food was good quality and fast. Person who brought the food was really helpful and polite.

Stayed here more times than I care or want to remember. It is consistently very good, from front of house to room service, cleanliness of rooms, food and wine. Great location too. One niggle. Why (oh why!) is one of the lifts permanently broken?

Warm & professional welcome. Hotel stylish. Stayed on 4th floor, zero noise from streets below. High standards in everything from beds to bathroom products. Ate in restaurant as part of package, again staff friendly & professional, menu on set package limited but options to swap against main menu so not a problem. Hotel handy for shops, 5 mins walk to centre of town. Book it now!

Me & my daughter stayed one night mid week to have some time together before she emigrates to Australia. The hotel is very near the train station & was a 5 minute walk. The town was nearby and within easy walking distance. The room was lovely the bed really comfortable. We did not eat here except for breakfast as we had booked into Jamie's Italian which again was very close and excellent. The breakfast was good and kept us filled all morning. Will definately look at the Mal's next time me n hubby go away.
