If you're hoping to see a whole museum of Henry Moore sculptures, you will be disappointing (head next door to the Leeds Art Gallery, to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, or down to his estate at Perry Green). This institute puts on modern and contemporary exhibitions and events that (usually) deal with sculpture. When I was last there, the exhibition was "Robert Filliou: The Institute of Endless Possibilities." It's a small space but it is utilized well and there are lost of events if you are interested in learning more about art.

This gallery can feel rather intimidating to enter, and the exhibits can often be rather pretentious. However it is free to get in, and is always worth a look. You will always find something you love, but you will inevitable see something that you hate. Occasionally you will come across something that makes you laugh.
This gallery takes itself far too seriously, but a visit can often be rewarding. You can also reach the city art gallery (and the fabulous tiled gallery cafe) via a glass walkway, so what have you got to lose?

Had just been in the art gallery next door, and had been in this place some years ago, and really enjoyed the experience. This tiime went in and was told the main exhibition was closed, but there was a "small" exhibition along the hall....small being the operative word.
We went along the corridor with another group and into a room about 9x9 with a plinth in the centre containing what looked like a pair of child's trousers that had been done on a boil wash, with some red flowers stuck in the top.
As we and the other group stood crammed into this room staring at this abomination, I couldn't help but exclaim "I kind of expected more," which at least brought a giggle to the room.
If you have nothing to show.....shut the doors!
