The museum is an excellent visit, the recreated streets of victorian Leeds are excellent and the odours are very authentic,as a nurse the progress of medicine and surgery was fascinating but even if youre non medical the exhibits are really good including the development of current day anaesthesia ,old wives medicines and practising quacks, the visit lasted for 4 hours and after youve paid you can return again in the year, its a really good experience

Went here with my husband and children aged 12 and 6. What a fab time we all had, something for all ages. We all really enjoyed the junior surgeon workshop which cost an extra £3 but very well worth it. My kids thought cutting into a kidney and stitching it back up was the best bit. Us parents found it really interesting and informative. The whole museum is intetesting and interactive and very well worth a visit. The value for money tickets allow you to visit again and again over the next 12 months. We will definately be going again before they run out.

Visited today with my 11 and 13 year old so they could take part in the junior surgeon workshop.
This was really informative with really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
My daughter is now thinking about becoming a heart surgeon!
The museum is really well laid out and has something for all ages!

Brilliant time had by all of us the youngest being 4 the oldest 50, you could really get involved with the stories of the people. We did a half term activity which was run by a real doctor from the Hospital , we had our lunch in the cafe plenty of choice. All the staff were very helpful. you need to pay to park the car, the carpark is right outside the museum.

Highly recommended if in Leeds, though some bits are not for the faint hearted. Even hubby enjoyed this museum.
Well put together history of medicine and the medical profession in general, with an emphasis on Leeds and how the health of the city improved over the years.
The Victorian streets and hands on exhibits were particularly good.
The only reason it doesn't get a 5, is that it needs updating and some of the laminated flip information booklets need tidying / correcting.
We expected a couple of hours in the afternoon would be long enough but ended up rushing the last section as it was about to close.
