Whitelocks is part of the history of Leeds, but easily missed, if you don't know its location. It is sited near Carphone warehouse on Briggate and well worth a visit. Great selection of Ales and also good food.

My mother used to take me here when I was a child as even in winter it had a great outside seating, as it is just a ginnel. Once I was old enough to go inside was amazed it is so great with mirrors, and lots of original features.

Turk’s Head Yard is an alleyway just off Briggate in the centre of Leeds. It is easily missed if you don’t know it’s there as it is a small entrance between an o2 phone shop and a branch of Northern Rock.
It dates back to the early 18th century and has been the location of a pub since then. The pub was initially called Turk’s Head, but in the late 18th century it change name to it’s current name Whitelock’s after one of the early landlords.
Whitelock’s is one of Leeds’ most famous bars, and is well known to locals and visitors alike serving a good selection of real ales. Although of late, service has been somewhat lacking.
I called in recently for a pint of Guinness, and it certainly was a good pint. And although it was only a lunchtime, there were quite a few other patrons enjoying a good meal.
