Description: Situated on the rather swish York Place, close to Leeds mainline railway station, Miah’s Place is an Indian restaurant with a wow factor. Right from the outset you really know that you’re in for something special – the restaurant is set within one of the old red brick buildings, behind wrought iron low fencing, its subtle signage indicating that Miah’s Kitchen, a small scale chain making waves throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, is perhaps a little more special than your average Indian eatery. Through the portico-ed front door you’ll enter a stylish dining room furnished in an unusual Art Deco inspired style, with ball topped lamps, sensuous lines and low slung leather seating, all in low key tones. Miah’s Kitchen offers an extensive menu of old Indian favourites, ranging from tandoori dishes to biryanis and baltis as well as a good collection of specialties created especially for the restaurant, using contemporary and traditional techniques. Surprisingly affordable, Miah’s Kitchen provides an upmarket take on Indian dining without the price tag.

“Quality Curry!”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

Visited here on Saturday evening while staying in Leeds, Food was top notch, I had a dish that I had never tasted before containing Chicken, Aubergine, peppers and Chillies, it was fantastic, the chicken was very well cooked. My wife enjoyed her usual Tikka dish. The staff were excellent, very helpful. Thought the prices were very reasonable for a city centre location. We will be back on our next visit to Leeds.

“An Honest restaurant that delivers”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

Went here with friends the restaurant known to them not to us. As a regular curry fan I know good from bad and this is up there with the good.

The flavours were very different to what I am used to but that was great because this is a different region to my favourite curry restaurants and experiencing those differences was a bonus, the chicken was full chunky wholesome pieces not the scratty shreds you find in some less salubrious places.

The staff were very attentive and knew there stuff and made sure your dining experience was going to be good and it was so a big thank you to all the guys at the restaurant.

If I had one small criticism it was the Naan bread it was too thick and not cooked enough for me but i looked around and others looked good so i did not want to make a fuss because everything else was so good, they would have changed it at the drop of a hat if i had asked. A good honest restaurant in the centre of Leeds well worth a visit we will be back.

“Excellent food & top notch service”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

Really pleasant evening, first time here, staff were excellent, very
attentive but not overbearing. Nice atmosphere we had a booth down the side which was nice & cosy, but the overall ambience was good.
Food was excellent, usual menu with a few interesting dishes new to me.
All served on warm plates from piping hot serving bowls. Nice modern, subtle decor all round. Busy but staff were plentiful & coped easily. Def. be returning.

“Inform the staff”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

We went here on a groupon deal for lunch we had booked but arrived early to find the place in darkness we retreated to a nearby pub to have a drink and rang them up
We returned and the lights had been put on we were the only customers
We ordered drinks and perused the menu we told the young lady from the outset we were on a groupon deal
We ordered and tried to enjoy the pompadoms but she came back and said because I had ordered a fish curry only the starters were free no we had paid groupon and we had to pay for main course we asked why we couldn't just pay a supplement and it wasn't prawns
Starters came and so did she to say she had to ring her manager just read the voucher two courses for two people and two glasses of wine
Back she came again saying we could pay a supplement by now didn't really want to eat bartering for my lunch is not my idea of fun
We never got the two glasses if wine couldn't go through it all again
So our groupon lunch cost us an extra £40 for the supplements and a bottle of wine
Not the best deal we have had no wonder place was empty

“delicious food, friendly staff”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

we went to miah's kitchen because of TripAdvisor. It is not far from the station but obviously too far away for tourists to find it.

we were absolutely glad with our desicion: the atmosphere is nice and elegant, the staff very helpful and smiling all the time. and the food was great!

we would go again!
