“Fantastic short stay”
Reviewed 29 May 2011

Location - just a few minutes walk from station and town centre
Check in/reception - no problems very quick and when asked for directions were provided with a map and easy directions
Room - our room located on 6th floor was spacious, very clean had a double bed and bed settee. There were all the extras such as flat screen t.v., hairdryer, hostess tray, mini bar.
Bathroom - was unusual in that the toilet was separate to the sink and bath but not a problem as such. Water pressure was good and the hotel supply soap, shampoo etc which is good. There was only one hand towel and one bath towel which is unusual but we managed.
Evening meal was included in the package (we were on a organised trip) and was 3 course buffett style meal and really nice plenty to eat and of good quality. Cheese and biscuts and coffee was also included which was a nice touch.
Breakfast again was very nice was quite busy but as they were serving from 6am till 12noon who can complain.
We had a drink in the bar and the prices were fair for a hotel tea and coffees I felt were slightly over priced £2.50 for a cup of tea!
Overall the hotel is very modern, staff seemed really pleasant and we had a lovely short break away.

Very well located for the city. Only a very short walk from the shops and restaurents. Only one negative point in my opinion. The bar lobby area whilst being very modern is not somewhere I would choose to sit around with a coffee and relax and maybe people watch. I thought it modern, stark and unfriendly. Otherwise the rooms and service are very good.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights at the Novotel using it as a base for our visit to Leeds but also as a base for a visit to York as it is situated perfectly 2-3 minutes walk from the train station and within easy walking distance of city centre sites. The hotel staff were quick and efficient on check in and we were made aware of the half price breakfast deal on arrival which we decided to take advantage of. A bonus was the 12 o'clock check out time from rooms which ensured that we were in no mad rush to vacate the room which is certainly far more relaxing than some of the early check outs I have encountered at other establishments!
We stayed in a room on the 4th floor which was pretty spacious and had everything you would generally expect - decent storage, standard tv channels, mini bar, safety deposit box. The room layout was fine although we did find it strange that the toilet was in a separate little "cupboard room" next to the bathroom and thus you had to go to the toilet then into the bathroom to wash and freshen up. The bathroom itself was modern and pretty much what you would expect from a good standard of hotel. The only issue we had with the cleanliness was that upon our arrival there was a "smell" coming from the bathroom sink but upon notifying reception on out way out this was resolved by the time we had come back to the room. The beds were comfortable and both myself and my girlfriend got decent nights sleep which was helped by the fact that the window's seemed to have decent sound proofing and thus we heard little if any noise from outside.
The hotel bar situated on the ground floor was pretty standard, fairly quite and relaxed so no complaints there.
We ate breakfast which was buffet style with a good selection including full english, fruit, cereals with plenty of choice and it certainly never looked like it was going to run out like some I have seen in the past!
Overall I would recommend anyone coming to Leeds takes a look at the Novotel as it is ideally situated within the city and for the £££ a good hotel.

Unfriendly staff, thermostat in room broke so felt like you were stuck in a constant heatwave (had to go outside at 4am to cool down due to feeling ill because of the heat.) Beds the most uncomfatable out of any hotel i have stayed at. And hair in the breakfast . And £10 to park in the car park that doesnt even have cctv?? Very disatisfied with this hotel. I wont be going back.

A very central business hotel. The staff were polite and very professional. The room was huge notwithstanding it being described as a standard room. It was very clean had a separate toilet. Bed was firm but comfortable and the hotel had underground parking at a reasonable price. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The room was hot (but as we were on the 5th floor sensibly the window had limited opening) but the hotel able to provide a fan. Only a short walk from the business and shopping area and close to the River Aire for a nice evening stroll.

Stayed two nights on separate occasions. First stay and room was ok but noticed chewing gum stuck to the lamp near desk, put me off. Also the comfort of this particular bed was poor. I could feel the springs through parts of it. Ordered room service dinner and quick and could not fault the food, good and hot which is a rarity sometimes. Breakfast however was was not the same, had to call as 15 mins late and said they would be up directly, altogether it was over 25 mins late so had no time to eat.
Second stay room looked to be cleaner and no problem with room service dinner and breakfast both on time and good. Check in and out quick and pleasant staff. Was going to feed back to staff about first stay but queue on check out and really busy because breakfast was late so had to get on, maybe they would have addressed this.
Anyway in summary it is ok for a business stay on your own and I guess I would stop again.
