“Our new hotel of choice for Leeds”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

I have stayed in Leeds a number of times but have never stayed at the at the Park Plaza before. We got a reasonable deal with late rooms and were very pleasantly suprised on arrival. The reception is modern and we were greeted by smiling and friendly reception staff. The room was very fresh and clean, and the bathroom decor was like a mini spa. Great location for the train station which is just across the road, entrance to the indoor shopping centre leading towards Briggate is just opposite the hotel entrance, and just a short walk to the Bars and resturants. Will most certainly stay at the Park Plaza again.

I visit Leeds quite regularly, and on all the more "functional" hotels, I'd say this is one of the best.

It doesn't do anything flashy, but does all the things you'd expect of a hotel to a good standard. Staff are friendly, it has a smart bar, is well located etc.

Rooms are spacious and with all the expected amenities. The beds are very comfortable too.

I wouldn't suggest it to holidaymakers (if anybody holidays to Leeds!) but wool suggest this place as an ideal for business travellers.

Me and my girlfriend were looking for somewhere to stay for my birthday so we could have a night out without worrying about getting home etc, having been forced to live apart for a while due to work commitments. Being a last minute thing we got a room through laterooms for a very reasonable rate, I can't quite remember but it was £70-£80, on arrival check in was efficient and the staff were friendly and well spoken. The room itself was clean and nicely decorated, not extravagant but modern and very nicely done. Bed was big and comfy, bathroom was lovely, again very clean, nice sized bath, great for a couple, the shower was also very good. The location is brilliant, right in the city centre, a minute from the train station, central to most areas of the town centre and the views of the city from some of the rooms are very nice indeed. Unfortunately we did not get to check out some of the other facilities, but a brief look in the bar would indicate that the standard of decor and presentation is consistent throughout. To summarise, while it may not be lavish and boutique like some city centre hotels, what park plaza does, it does perfectly well, and as the title would suggest, if I was looking for a room while on business or for a visiting contact which is a cut above your standard hotel I would not hesitate to use PP again.

Hotel is very dated now , it's showing signs from years of neglect. We paid for the executive room which it may have been in 1973 (the tv must have been from radio rentals) ?
The room had been booked as a double which in fact was two singles pushed together . The bath had hairs in it and mould on the shower overall the room would have benefitted from a professional clean . Various lifts/ automatic doors out of action.Staff are friendly but the reception area does give a good impression of the overall disrepair . Not value for money

Room Tip: Book elsewhere

Dear Pauluter,

I would like to apologise if you found your stay to be below our usual excellent standards. Your comments regarding the cleanliness of your room are currently being addressed with the relevant department manager.

Unfortunately due to circumstances completely out of our control last week, one of our four lifts experienced a technical fault and was out of service for 24 hours, along with the revolving door at the front of the Hotel. We aimed to minimise disruption to our guests by implementing alternative means of entry to the Hotel and had the problem resolved as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

All of our televisions are in the process of being updated so rest assured this matter is in hand.
All of our guest bedrooms have been completely refurbished just last year so it surprises me to read that you found it to be dated.

Our beds use a zip and link method in order to change rooms from twins to doubles easily. The mattresses zip together to form one large double so this may be what you experienced when you refer to two singles being pushed together. Many many Hotels use this type of mattress so that bedrooms are more versatile for the guests needs.

Once again I would like to apologise for any problems you may have encountered whilst staying with us.

Many Thanks.

Great hotels with views overlooking city square. We opted for a room on 19th floor which had great views. Very quiet given we stayed on a Friday night. Discounted parking is available at Q park criterion place you just pay on check out from the hotel

Stayed here with husband for a 1 night stay. We had been here for a night about 2 years ago and found it to be a nice hotel so decided to book again. It was my husbands birthday so chose to upgrade to executive suite situated on the 18th (out of 20) floor. We had a lovely corner room which meant we had 2 sides of our room looking out over Leeds. The room was spacious and the bed was large. The bathroom was a pleasant size with a nice bath (and shower head above it).
I liked the bathrobes that were supplied and there was ample tea/coffee/milk for when we wanted a hot drink.
We chose not to have breakfast so can't comment on food quality and didn't venture to the bar either.
We were greeted on arrival by a very friendly and helpful member of staff who checked us in at about 1.30pm (even though check in was stated as 3pm we thought we'd ask and it didn't seem like any bother to them).
So, in summary; lovely hotel, friendly staff and very comfortable & spacious rooms. Will definitely return & would recommend to anyone!

We decided to pick this hotel to be central to the shops and Leeds arena as we were going to see Rod Stewart. The hotel was lovely, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us even though we were only staying one night. I would most definitely stay at Park Plaza again. Excellent location to the train station. I have already told my friends to stay here if going to leeds for shopping trips etc., I have stayed in other hotels in leeds but this will be my only choice from now on.
