“Very Disappointing !”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2013

My boyfriend booked this hotel as a special night for us as we are unable to be together over the Christmas period. We booked into the room (406) without a problem and settled in, unfortunatly then the noise began, what sounded like some kind of building work banging all afternoon! The more we stayed in the room the more we seemed to notice about what we were led to believe was a high end hotel. There was a large black mark on one wall, cracked plaster where a mirror was screwed to the wall, brown marks on the bath and toilet. The pillows and quilt were no better than a £25 ibis budget hotel and the quality of bedding was very poor. On the up side, there were toiletries supplied and plenty of large towels of good quality. Unfortunatly because of the noise which didn't seem to be close to stopping we decided to leave the hotel at 7pm and never went back, this was a disappointing and short stay which wasted our time and money and to be honest has ruined what should have been a fun and romantic night : (

We arrived early by train and were able to leave our cases in a secure area. Luckily the reception checked our booking at that point but could find no trace of it from Late Rooms. (Late Rooms have subsequently stated this was the fault of the hotel but we were not aware of this)
However, in the face of our panic at the prospect of a ruined weekend, the receptionist was very helpful and was able to find us a room, although it was a double not a twin. They arranged to change the set up of the beds ready for our agreed check in time. This was all sorted for us when we did get to our room, on the 16th floor!.
The room itself was very spacious, very clean with a fantastic view over Leeds. We were East facing and watched a gorgeous sunrise the next morning! There was a bath as well as a shower which was a lovely luxury after a long day shopping. The beds were comfy with 2 decent pillows and the room was warm.
The location was fantastic, 2 minutes from the train station but with no train noise, and just minutes from the shops, the Corn Exchange and the fabulous arcades.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel (although it was great that they served it until 11am) and instead found a nice cafe in the Trinity Centre next door.
We would most definitely stay here again (but if booked via Late rooms, admittedly for a very good price, I would recommend checking direct with the hotel that they are expecting you!)

Room Tip: 16th floor (1601) had fabulous views of the city and the sunrise

Reception & bar ok etc staff proffesional. Superior room was a let down. Bathroom dirty , taps shower door filthy. Carpet dirty tiny telly & broken large window broken so wide open made room freezing. Wouldn't bother going back lots of nice hotels in Leeds.

Stayed her on Saturday evening for one night in a triple room. Room was of average standard and in need of update however was spotlesley clean.

There were 2 single beds (camp beds) and one sofa bed in the room and I must say that they were the most incomfortable beds we have ever slept in! this was reported to reception to get a smart comment back of "really........ didnt know we had campbeds in our hotel are you sure!" Customer service is less to be desired for.

On a positive note the breakfast was excellent and was well worth £8.95p/h.

Unfortunatlly we wont be staying at this hotel again, and it wasnt worth the £145.00 we paid to stay here.

Had our annual Christmas shopping weekend (mid-week), staying at the Park Plaza. when we finally got to our room it was lovely, high up with wonderful views, very clean and bright. But getting to that stage was a problem. We had left our cases early in the day and came back at 2.00 p.m. to check in - sorry, room not ready, will be about an hour, so we did some more shopping. An hour later, still not ready, so we sat in the lounge. We were offered a drink and, foolishly, we asked for lemonade. We should have had a bottle of wine! At 4.15 p.m. we finally got our keys. and then they charged us another £9 because we'd asked for a room with a view.

When we had arrived originally, we were desperate for the toilet and used the one in the reception area, at least we tried to. I walked into one of the toilets to find that the bowl was overflowing with water, etc. The other toilet was in the same state, not a good first impression.

The breakfast was OK, provided you didn't want cold meats or cheese, which had been on display since 6.30 a.m. and were curling up.

Apart from these three things, we enjoyed or stay and will be back, but not for breakfast. With Trinity Square so close, it's easy to find somewhere to eat.

The hotel is in a magnificent position, right opposite the station on one side and Trinity on the other. The staff are very friendly and helpful

Went with a group of girls for a friends 50th for just 1 night the girl who booked it got a little discount online. We all shared either twins or triple rooms. My room was on the 12th which i shared with 2 others there was 2 single beds and a bed settee nice acomfortable clean beds, we all had a dressing grown each nice clean towels. Shower in bath lovely and hot a little hard getting out as I banged my leg had a lovely bruise. There was plenty of shampoo conditioner shower gel soap, theres s hair dryer kettle plenty of sugar coffee teabags. The only thing I would say it was quite dirty behind the bedsettee on carpet and skirting board.Bar on ground floor was nice enough staff seen friendly, Would definitely stay again if it were a bit cheaper as its not that far from the town and pubs.
