Basically the food here is amazing. We went for a late lunch in August - just popped in ad hoc and didn't know what to expect. Chose from the lunch menu - 3 dishes for ten pounds which is fantastic value. All dishes were unbelievably tasty and also a bit different - Spanish with a fusion twist but all excellent. Service was fantastic - waiter (from the Wirral) was so friendly and helpful. Wine and ale both great. Would definitely recommend this restaraunt. Amazing.

Three of us ate there on Sunday afternoon, bright sunlight and a view of the river made the place seem airy and the food was surprisingly good. We got the vegetarian tapas selection for two and added meat and fish dishes, including soft, pink liver wrapped in bacon and cod fritters. What was really good about the food were the hits of rich Spanish sherry onions had been fried in, and the peppers seem to have been slow roasted so the flavour developed properly. The fried food was perfectly done, it's a relief to get a cod fritter that's actually seen the sea and isn't soggy and doughy. The only low note was the aubergine /garlicky stack... the aubergines needed another minute in the pan to be perfect. I'm being picky though, generally the food was great.

I've only recently discovered this gem and ate here twice in the last week. On both occasions the food was excellent. On the first occasion, I ate at lunchtime and took advantage of their three tapas for £9.95 offer (Monday to Friday, between 12.00 and 18.00 only). The choice is from a separate, limited menu but nonetheless there are at least 6 vegetarian options. The second time I ate here was on a Sunday and therefore the offer was unavailable. The main menu has a great range - we were spoilt for choice. The bill for 2 of us came in at under £40 and almost half of this was for drinks. Not being a wine or sherry fan I stuck to beer both times. Options included draft, imported Spanish lager and bottled, black lager - also imported from Spain. Both are pricey, but then this is a restaurant, not a pub. Service on both occasions was friendly, helpful and efficient. Although we had not booked on the Sunday, a table was found for us and at no time during our meal were we made to feel rushed. If you enjoy tapas, this restaurant is a must.

We visited Ambiente with a couple of friends last weekend. Having experienced tapas in Barcelona and Bilbao I am always a bit reluctant to do Tapas in the UK. However having found this place on a website describing the 10 most unusual restaurants in Leeds we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. Ambiente have reinvented the tapas experience giving a novel and very tasty twist to some old favourites and introducing some completely new ideas. The chorizo and potatoes in a rich sauce is a revelation and one not to be missed.
