“Poor !”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2014 via mobile

Well... After queueing for 20 minutes, the chicken wrap was ok but the chocolate brownie was stale, the waitress assured me that it was fresh that morning however when I highlighted that the cakes were uncovered directly in front of the queue (unhygienic) she was rude and walked off !!
Shame because it's a beautiful venue... Coffee was only mediocre at best.

“Apart from being a corridor, all good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2014

I've always liked this place. They do know how to charge a lot of money for cakes / scones / biscuits, I shoudl say, but drinks come in at a fair price. There is the occasional interruption from the passing crowd of teenagers / loudmouths coming in / out of the library which always seems anomolous.

There's plenty of seating space but it isn't very private - I wouldn't go here for a romantic get-together - but great foro what I (we) use it for, friends meeting up.

“What a place!”

Super food choices, interesting soups and salads. Very reasonably priced. This is Yorkshire after all! Excellent service and the most amazing Victorian tiled hall. Bob Geldoff was there the day I visited, do that was a bonus.

“Great for a quick brunch with cake!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2014

Stopped in at 3pm and we had a toasted beef sandwich and prawn bagel. Both served with a huge bowl of mushroom soup. Cake each and a coffee and loose leaf tea. Came to around £13.50 which was good value (using a taste card for 241 on food).

Order at the counter and take cake and drinks to your table and food brought over when ready. Service was fast and friendly.

Superb setting in the tiled room. If you want a quick brunch with yummy sandwiches, soup and cake then I can recommend it. For a bigger menu and full service you might want to go elsewhere.

“Lovely food in a great setting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2014

Went to the Art Gallery and decided to pop in here for a bite to eat. Have to say the staff were exceptionally slow at serving, lots of them milling around behind the counter but not much serving going on.

This however was made up for by the wonderful wrap (chicken & jalepeno) and carrot & coriander soup that we had - both were scrummy!

Sadly when I was served my tea I asked for extra milk and they gave me SKIMMED milk....yuk!

The hall itself is amazing and a real surprise. Would go again but would make sure I am not in a rush.
