“Great venue for coffee”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Had tea and cake in the afternoon. Good latte coffee, though rather strong to our taste. Earl Grey was real leaf tea, but no strainer supplied. Chocolate fudge cake was good. Beautiful tiled hall is available to hire for functions.

“Fantastic setting; average food”

Fantastic setting; average food. Beautiful tiled room. Calm quiet atmosphere. Decent selection of sandwiches and soup but food nothing special.

“Wonderful setting for a great lunch”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

If there is a more impressive setting to enjoy top quality sandwiches, salads or cake in Leeds (or indeed Yorkshire) I've yet to find it.
The food was lovely - we had sandwiches and salad - and the cakes looked fabulous though we managed to resist. This would be an ideal spot for morning coffee and cake or afternoon tea (and cake!) and I'm sure we will do that soon. Although the selection of lunchtime sandwiches and salads was small there was enough variety for us.
But the thing that really stands out is the magnificent tiled décor. I guess this could make the place a little noisy but it wasn't busy while we were there and this wasn't a problem.

“Poor !”
Reviewed 18 March 2014 via mobile

Well... After queueing for 20 minutes, the chicken wrap was ok but the chocolate brownie was stale, the waitress assured me that it was fresh that morning however when I highlighted that the cakes were uncovered directly in front of the queue (unhygienic) she was rude and walked off !!
Shame because it's a beautiful venue... Coffee was only mediocre at best.

“Apart from being a corridor, all good”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

I've always liked this place. They do know how to charge a lot of money for cakes / scones / biscuits, I shoudl say, but drinks come in at a fair price. There is the occasional interruption from the passing crowd of teenagers / loudmouths coming in / out of the library which always seems anomolous.

There's plenty of seating space but it isn't very private - I wouldn't go here for a romantic get-together - but great foro what I (we) use it for, friends meeting up.
