“Could not wait to leave”
Reviewed 6 December 2009

We booked into Brookfield for 3 nights on our trip around the UK, from Australia. When we arrived we did not receive a warm welcome, with a staff member (who we originally thought was another guest) opening the door for us (the front door is obscure and only accessible by a code) without even saying a word until we entered and went up to the front desk. The place was dark and did not feel welcoming.
The rooms were basic, however the linen on the bed, with no top sheet was substandard.
After an unsettling nights sleep, at breakfast the next morning we heard other guests complain to a staff member that someone had tried to get in their room at 3 am that morning - the staff's response - an awkward laugh!
The hotel is much further from the city than advertised in a dodgy area.
We were so uncomfortable in this hotel that we stayed only 1 night out of the three we were booked in for, happily paying for 2 nights (24h cancellation policy) just to get out of there and stayed at Etap Hotel, which was much much nicer for the same value.

We stayed over for 1 night room was ok and quiet, breakfast was a little disappointing, no cereal or fruit juice, only cordial, landlord was friendly and helpful, We chose this hotel as it is closely located to the town. we had a pleasant walk along the river into the town.

Hotel was excellent value for money. Rooms were good sized, clean and with all facilities needed. Breakfast was excellent. Location perfect for city centre with a bus stop just across the road. Only 5-10 minutes by bus to centre and cost only £1.
Jet garage just next to hotel open 24 hours - perfect for late night snacks after returning from a night out!

  • Liked — Clean, friendly, good size rooms, excellent value for money
  • Disliked — Finding it - we got very lost in the city centre after a wrong turn!

It was our second stay in this hotel to which we returned because we enjoyed our stay the first time, which was only for one night. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the showers are also great, these are things that are important as well. The staff is very friendly and kindly helps you and take good care of you. Not really a surprise we booked again there for our next visit to West Yorkshire this coming October. If there was one point of improval, I'd say that breakfast could be served just one hour later but as the (English) breakfast served there is very good it's not really a big thing.

The staff has always been smiling which made our stay a very pleasant experience. I definitely recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — The big rooms and nice staff
  • Disliked — Breakfasttimes (early)
