“A hidden treasure....”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

In a day when the coffee and restaurant chains seem to have most
of the business, we stumbled upon this little gem of a place. Pre theatre meal I went for the chicken skewer and my wife went for the meatballs. What a great suprise. The salad that accompanied the meal was superb, and I am not really a salad lover. The meat on both dishes was cooked to perfection. Didnt have a coffee with the meal as I prefer a cold drink, so bought some of their own roasted and ground Colombian coffee which we had Sunday morning. So many coffees are so bitter no matter how much sugar you put in. This was light, tasty and an absolute joy to drink. Would certainly recomend this to any other people wanting something different to your run of the mill dining experience.
Hope to visit again soon.

Thank you

“Best Salsa and Coffee this side of the Atlantic!”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Came across this by chance on our way to a Japanese restaurant. When studying the menu outside, the owner David came outside and asked us to come in to get the best coffee on this side of the Atlantic and he did not disappoint. We ordered the chicken schnitzel (pollo apanada) which came with handcut skin-on chips, rice, side salad. The salad was very tasty with good quality ingredients. We also had fried beef, again good quality, with sides of rice, beans and plantain rosti. Finally we ordered Colombian meat pie (Empanada) which was also excellent.

The food is freshly made from scratch and thus the turnaround wasn't that quick but every minute waiting was well worth it. The coffee was excellent too.

Finally, The owners are also very friendly and made us feel at home.

We will definitely be back!

“Just delicious!”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

I honestly wouldn't know how else to describe this place. We went there after being strongly recommended to pay a visit and I am glad we did! The place is in the Grand Arcade, just off the bustling Briggate and not far from Primark. The atmosphere, as noted by other reviewers, is really authentic and the first floor of the café is a shop which sells all sorts of Latin American goods.
The coffee is awesome and freshly toasted and ground in front of your eyes. If you don't want to take my word for it (or the owners', for that matter), the massive coffee roasting and grinding machine at the entrance will probably convince you. Don't come here looking for fancy cappuccinos or frappes, they only serve authentic Colombian black coffee (milk or sugar are the only concessions).
The staff is extremely friendly, chatty and always smiling. They make sure you are having a good time. The owners in particular are extremely attentive and make you feel welcome from the moment you step inside. All of the staff works together like a big family and it's nice to hear them natter in both Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
The food is amazing. We stopped there for lunch and our taste buds were extremely grateful. They have a lunch menu which includes both mains (all around £7) and starters (approximately £3). The mains all come with plenty of rice, chips and a salad. We had Chilli con carne and Meat balls, but I have to say these were some of the tastiest I have ever had. The meals are also served with a spicy salsa which, as the owner said, you have to drizzle on top of the meat. The salad had a zingy and lime-y dressing to die for and even the rice was fluffy and tasty. Just incredible.
Would definitely be back. Only downside for us is the location, which is on the opposite side of town to where we live.

“Great coffee, great food, great ambience”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

I was delighted to visit Casa Colombiana when I was in Leeds for a couple of days. The Latin/Colombian cuisine was very tasty and the salsa picante perfect for my Nordic paladar. It is also great to be able to see your coffee being roasted by such a passionate coffee professional as David, and having him share of his profound knowledge of coffee making. I brought home to bags of newly roasted Colombian coffee and a handy grounder so that I can make my own smooth and delicious coffee.
Very friendly atmosphere, like a huge family, just like I imagine it would have been in Colombia.
I'll be back!
