“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

All staffed by very knowledgeable volunteers, who encourage you to sit on the furniture, read the old newspapers, play the phonograph, read the old books on the shelves.
All over the UK we have visited stately old homes and manors, this is the very first where you can lie on the beds, play snooker on the table.
Also the church is well worth seeing, where else in the world do you see free bars and biscuits for hungary travellers and a box of free stuff for travellers.
This community really cares and it shows !!!

“Great Day”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Visited today, unsure what to expect. Great day out. Friendly volunteers, wonderful to experience the house without any Thistles anywhere. Do the Stones tour, well worth £3, Peter who was our guide was very interesting and informative. Will visit again as time didnt enable us to see it all.

“As good as expected!”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

I had loved the TV series on the renovation of the Manor, and it was great to see it in real life. The volunteers are very knowledgable and seem to really love their involvement. Unfortunately a couple of rooms were closed due to work required to stop a ceiling from collapsing. Never mind, I have now ordered the DVD of the series so I can see it all again. It is very close to the Avebury Stone Circle, which I also visited that day. So much better than Stonehenge, there are no officious guards to prevent you from getting up close and personal, and the morning that I was there I was the only person on the hill for quite some time. A great day in all respects.

Wonderful and refreshing experience. Nothing is what it seems to be. No need to worry about sitting down or touching things. Totally artificially recreated by the BBC. A mammoth film set really, with motivated, interesting going volunteers to provide insights. Look out for a very. Lvel exercise machine in the dining room. You can even have a go if you wish.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Avebury Manor is a really interesting and unusual National Trust property to visit. A renovation project undertaken in collaboration with the BBC for a television series it is furnished with reproduction or newly made furniture. Each room representing a different era in the history of the house. Very much hands on and the very friendly room guides encourage you to touch things. My husband even had a game of snooker in the Games Room. We enjoyed our visit very much and followed it by taking Afternoon Tea in the Library Tea Room afterwards. The admission fee also includes admission to two very interesting small museums. We then had an enjoyable walk to nearby Windmill Hill which wasn't too taxing and took about an hour and a half.
