“TO THE MANOR BORN”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We visited the manor on the way home, another National Trust triumph, parking was expensive £7 and no alternatives as the village has no parking everywhere, the Manor is great and you can touch things as they are mostly reproduction , but its great , if you saw the programme on TV you will understand , if you didn't then buy the DVD and go visit . Its superb.

“Lovely property and ideal for children”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Lovely property where you are actually encouraged to touch and feel items and open cupboards and drawers. This featured in a programme "To The Manor Reborn" in 2011 in which Penelope Keith and Paul Martin helped in the restoration of the manor. They did a beautiful job. The room with the Chinese wallpaper was my favourite and stunning. The wallpaper is the only thing you cannot touch as it was hand painted in China and might smudge if touched. Lovely gardens surround the property and the setting in Avebury is lovely. Take time to walk the stone circle as well. A lovely day out.

“Hands-on history”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Really enjoyed a visit to this manor house. Don't expect genuine old artefacts as most items are reproduction, but this does allow the fantastic opportunity to move around freely, sit on the old chairs, bed etc, and get a better idea of how life was lived in this nice old property. Good garden area too with plants, produce, ponds.

“Hands-On Visit”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Recently "re-born" due to the BBC Avebury Manor is one of the few National Trust properties where you can touch objects and sit on furniture. I had a very enjoyable visit this June and the volunteers were all friendly and open to engaging in conversation, not always the case at NT properties.

A beautiful setting. Helpful NT members in house rooms to explain the history etc.
Service in restaurant slow, mainly due to poor technology I.e. card machine.
