“Fantastic Service. Great Value for Money. Great Hotel”
Reviewed 24 February 2010

We were looking for a quality hotel, in a central location, on a small budget. This is exactly what we got. We booked here for 2 nights (a Friday and a Saturday), (night before our wedding, and our wedding night, along with our wedding party - approx 30 friends) . We couldnt have asked for better service, from arrival, nothing was too much of a problem. The food in the restaurant on the Friday was fantastic value for money. Despite being a busy and vibrant venue on the Saturday night, our wedding party was accommodated without any fuss (in fact we were made to feel very special). The rooms were comfortable, clean , and contemporary... and contrary earlier feedback- quiet! Any fears we (or our guests) had were quickly dealt with prior to our stay. We had no issues at all with noise from either the street or the bar downstairs. A great choice for us.

I too am suprised by the large number of positive reviews for this "hotel". The place is far more like a Wetherspoons bar than a hotel. The bar becomes rammed with drinkers from about 9pm and it is not nice to have to squeeze through all the teenagers queueing at the door to get into the building then barge your way through everyone in the bar before accessing the stairs to the hotel.
We were luckily on the 3rd floor so the bar noise was not too bad. I had ear plugs but I think the bass would have bothered me if I hadn't.
The room itself is ok. Modern furnishings and clean. The tea and coffee facilities in the room are of poor quality. We both considered the coffee to have a slightt beef taste!!!
Breakfast was satisfactory. The cooked food lacked flavour and quality. The pastries were bland. Jams/marmite etc were served in a large jar for all to help themelves to which I do not consider particular hygenic.
On a positive note the staff were friendly and the hotel has a very convenient central location but I would not stay there again.
