“Beautiful, welcoming and worth many a return visit!”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

We drove around for ages looking for a nice place to stay the night and then decided to ask two locals, they directed us to this beautiful B&B and I'm so glad! Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was outstanding, I recommend the Heath Suite, very reasonable price for a historic Tudor room! We had dinner there as well and the food was beautiful, fresh and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: The Heath Suite is beautiful, very spacious, clean, full facilities and has all the original Tudor b...

Very impressed by external appearance on arrival. Lady on reception very pleasant ant helpful. Our room (9), looked fab at first glance, but little things became apparent. The bathmat looked a funny brown colour and should have been replaced long before. The shower rail was quite rusty and the curtain grubby. The sink tap was coated in lime scale which was easily removable with some cleaner. Also, empty, used complimentary shower gel containers in the shower tray from previous occupants - bad house-keeping! The next day we discovered two patches of unknown substances on the sheet along the edge of the mattress, also on the second day, house-keeping had left someone else's dirty towel in the corner of the room! Apart from that, the room was generally clean, comfortable and warm.
We had an inclusive deal which included breakfast, dinner and packed lunch. The food was good, wholesome and tasty - my one gripe here was that breakfast turned out to be continental only with an additional £5 supplement for a cooked breakfast - not previously mentioned! Our main waitress, Joan was great as was Chris from the bar - well-done. The packed lunches were good and substantial.
Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful, although housekeeping need stricter supervision/training as they are letting the side down somewhat. Would definitely go back again on another deal - great situation alongside the river Avon.

Room Tip: The old part of the building is the better place to be.

Picked up a travelzoo offer and thought it would be a good day out.
Good: Beautiful location. Even had Kingfishers on the river to see! Staff friendly
Bad: Food unimaginative, over cooked and if not for travelzoo offer very expensive. Toughest steak I have seen in a long time.
NB: Only ate here so no idea what rooms are like. Place has amazing potential, but just not making the effort

This was very good value and the staff were incredibly helpful and polite. It was a DB & B deal but we couldn't make the dinner and the staff without hesitation offered us a lunch on the following day.
The food was fine but not exceptional. Restaurant staff very courteous and efficient
The 'BUT' refers to a room at the far end of the extension which smelt as if there had been smokers there and as if someone had tried to eliminate the smell. Perhaps it was cleaners?

This was a one night business trip and at £75 for single occupancy of a double room with breakfast good value. However, my room while clean modern and fairly comfortable had one tiny window overlooking the car park and their red bins. Others parking their cars had a great view into my room so my only option was to close the curtains. I didn't feel at all comfortable opening the window that night. My advice (especially seeking these mixed reviews) would be to request a room with a view. The room i had would not be worth the advertised rate.
Breakfast was the usual buffet. There was cooked available if this is your preference.
Reception staff vary. A younger guy was friendly and professional. I did observe my pet hate, answering a phone call from another guest while clearly making your annoyance clear through visual signals.
Sailsbury itself was lovely and the hotel is only 5 minutes pleasant walk past the cathedral into town and the many restaurants.

Room Tip: I would avoid the ground floor if you can
