Worth going to Salisbury just to stay at the Rose and Crown. My wife and i had a large room with a king size bed.The room overlooked lovely gardens and a river .Picture perfect. The staff were excellent The restaurant was delightful ,and also overlooked the garden. It is just a pleasant walk to the cathedral and the picturesque town of Salisbury.

Room Tip: As we only saw the one room it is difficult to recommend ,but certainly a room with the view over th...

We planned on staying here for one night during a 3 week guided tour of England. Reservations for two rooms were made through the Legacy Hotel web site several months in advance. We received confirmation and had all the paperwork with us upon arrival. However, at check in we were informed that they only had one room for us and that there was no record of the second room. Now, mistakes do happen, but the biggest problem was the way it was handled by the staff. The lady at the reception desk told us that "this happens all the time" and that "to ensure that you get rooms reserved, you must call the hotel directly, not use the website". She insisted that the online reservation system was owned by some other company (like a third pary booking agent) and they were to blame, not the hotel. We were then informed that there was nothing they could do since there were no more rooms available. The problem here is that we used the Legacy Hotel reservation system, not a "third party" booking agent. So the staff was basically lying to us in order to shift blame. She also told us she was new to the area and was unable to help us find another hotel. We then asked to see the property manager, but since he/she was unavailable, the "duty manager" came out. He told us that all he is obligated to do is help us find another place to stay. The staff didn't seem interested in making the effort to call other places, and our tour guide basically had to pressure them to make some calls. He even had to give them names of other hotels to try. After finding a new hotel for us, we asked the duty manager if they were willing to make any concessions (such as paying for part of our other hotel, or at least some dinner vouchers) to make up for the massive inconvenience. His response was "I said I would help you find a new hotel and I did. That is all I will do". To make things worse for us, since this issue added over an extra hour to our day, we were obligated to pay our guide for his extra time as well. When informed of this, the staff just said "sorry" and again refused to do anything for us. It just amazes me that a business would put so much effort into placing the blame elsewhere and refuse to take any responsibility. We got the impression that they really didn't care about the situation, or about us. We will never use Legacy Hotels again after this experience.

The executive room was on the ground floor and had lovely views of the back garden, river avon and the cathedral. The room and bed were comfortable and the meals had over 4 days were good. The seasonal menu limited meal choice after a few days. However, the manager and staff down to the cleaner were very helpful, efficient and friendly. We will certainly be visiting the hotel again.

Room Tip: Choose a room backing onto the river avon ducks.

found a good sunday night saver on hotel website 69£ bed and breakfast well worth the money ,the town is just a short walk away.
Hotel staff all good and drinks and food reasonable .
bed huge and a little patio area ,but as it rained did not use, shame .
The breakfast in the deal was a continental ,but for a 5£ extra full English is availiable.

Thank you to all at the Legacy Rose & Crown, in particular Derek, Martin and Nikki, for helping to make our wedding day so perfect. Attention to detail was superb, and nothing was too much trouble. The setting is lovely by the river with the cathedral in the background and the swans etc, and the staff are professional but friendly. Martin is excellent and puts you totally at ease when planning what is such a personal day, Derek is so professional and approachable, and Nikki is really helpful with a great sense of humour. After a perfect ceremony and photographs by the river, the way the dining room was set out took my breath away as all my table decorations and place settings were set out with such care and thought. The food was amazing too. Any minor issues were dealt with swiftly and to our complete satisfaction, and we cannot recommend the Legacy Rose & Crown highly enough - thank you so much.

Room Tip: Room 5 is the perfect honeymoon suite - four poster and exposed beams.

Five hours ago we checked out of this hotel leaving us with only one regret......that we should have stayed for more than one night!
I booked my wife and I in an executive room which being on the ground floor opens up onto the garden area and the river.
The staff must have been very clever as they didn't know what time we were arriving but still they managed to get a family of swans into the river for us to have a picture perfect setting with endless photo opportunities.
As we sat on the river bank the sun was starting to set with kingfishers flying by.sorry as a bloke that sounds very feminine sided but very true!
Add to this the pure history of the old pub with good well priced food and very friendly staff culminated in it being by far the best hotel we chose on this trip.
Last week we stayed at the royal crescent in bath and without doubt the rose and crown trumps it.
As we've got our first Christmas off together in well over five years we are contemplating coming back.
Oh, almost forgot, it,s a five minute walk to the cathedral with its Magna Carta and ten minutes to the town centre, both well worth visiting

Room Tip: Executive room ground floor onto the river......sorry computer useless the rating for the fitness ce...

We recently stayed three nights at this historic Hotel, we booked one of the beamed rooms in the Old Coaching Inn, it was just glorious. The staff were extremely helpful and catered to all our needs. We visited the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and the food was superb.
The Hotel sits beside the Avon River and it was so peaceful sitting in the beer garden beside the river supping an ale or two. The Hotel is a short walk from Salisbury Cathedral and the city centre, there is plenty of parking and a great choice of rooms.

Room Tip: A couple of little things about the coaching inn rooms, they are a little warm during summer and a t...
