We visited salisbury for the first time and decided to stay one night at the Rose and Crown. The staff were all very friendly, polite and good humoured. The hotel is really convenient for salisbury centre a short and pleasant walk through the cathedral grounds. Continental breakfast was very good and for us was plenty. Will definitely be going back

we have stayed here a few years ago still a nice hotel but the breakfast was better the first time round. We did have some issues with the room but have been assured that these are being addressed, The location on the river is very relaxing withgood views from the dining room. The food is also very good and not too expensive. The wine is another matter I dont mind paying for good wine but to charge £21 for Jack Rabbit wine is expensive where I work we buy it in for £4 a bottle we went for a £24 bottle but the quality was poor. Overall it was a very nice. Decaff tea and coffee was available always a bonus as I alway carry my own as many hotel do not supply it.
Take a alarm clock we booked two but never recieved them. we did not mind anyway as the staff were vere nice and very helpfull

We stayed a couple of days in the modern extension of the hotel, which doesn't have the character and charm of the original parts but is very quiet away from the main area which was hosting a wedding reception on Saturday night.

Nice view of river and cathedral from the room.

Room was spacious, very clean and well equipped.
Nice BIG comfy bed and total blackout curtains.
Radiators certainly do the job, if you turn them on full the room will be too hot.
We didn't eat here so can't comment on the breakfast/food.

Staff seemed pleasant and helpful.

One of the best things about this place is the convenient location, a pleasant 5-10 minute stroll to the cathedral and town and yet with a decent sized car park. On our last day, after checkout, we were allowed to leave the car in the car park until the evening which was very useful.

The shortcut through the cathedral grounds is only possible up to 10pm, at which point they lock the gates, but the alternative route on Exeter St is not much longer.

Room Tip: if you're staying over a weekend and likely to want a quiet early night, then ask for a room in the modern part of the hotel.

We stayed two nights at this charming hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was bright, spacious with a very comfortable bed. I often have trouble sleeping in a new bed, but had a fantastic sleep in this one. The riverside location is peaceful and beautiful and a short walk to the city centre. The only quibble I had was the breakfast which was sub-par in comparison with the overall excellent quality of the hotel. Bread was of the generic white sliced variety, staff were reluctant to allow guests to sit near the window, instead placing them in dark corners. And the yogurt was 5 days out of date. However, the average breakfast was an anomaly in an otherwise excellent stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the gardens, river and cathedral.

We came to the Rose and Crown on a two night deal which really was great value for money, we were really happy with everything from the fantastic rooms in the old part, the food, breakfast, the close proximity to town. A special mention to Nicki in reception, she really was so helpful from changing our reservation, to helping with directions when we got lost, and even dashing up to our room when we couldn't figure out the shower!, I would really recommend and we hope to go back... Thank you from Sandra and Graham and the "kids"
