“Lovely hotel, great location and superb staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2011

Booked this hotel using Tesco vouchers. Right from the first phone call, service was friendly and efficient.

We arrived early and were allowed to leave our car whilst we took a walk into to Salisbury which is a beautiful place. Check in was straight forward and we were given all the info we needed. The room was very spacious and clean and the bed very comfortable. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful always ready with recomendations of places for lunch and local places to visit.

Weddings took place on both nights of our stay but didn't intrude on our stay at all, and an excellent level of service was maintained throughtout. Bar prices were more than reasonable as was the food which was superb and even my fussy other half couldn't fault it.

On the first night we returned once the wedding receprion was in full swing which made parking tricky but we needn't have worried as a member of staff ran up to our car, advised us where to park then asked we leave our keys at recepton so it could be parked better when space became available which he did and returned our key without fuss.

The hotel s a only short walk from the town centre. Close enough for sight seeing without the noise.

18 months ago, we went to all the hotels in Salisbury and decided on here for our wedding reception. What a great choice.. All of the staff were so very very helpful and could not do enough for us. From the minute my family arrived on the Weds nothing was too much trouble. The morning of the wedding there was a real buzz in the hotel with all the staff, it was fab. They fetched and carried to and from the rooms, they were amazing. The Management team are so very professional and along with all the staff made our day (and stay) so very very special. Thank you to you all

this little place is so much nicer than the pics lead u to believe. it is in a beautiful setting, the restaurant is 5 star, service is 5 start. The staff were the friendliest we have encountered in our 3 wks in europe! Well underpriced for what we got! I highly rec this place.

Room was extremely cold, asked how the heating worked the manager didn't know either! He then brought a heater which tripped the electrics in the room! We then moved rooms to an executive room which was lovely and warm, comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was OK but only ok.
Good value for money, Sailsbury is a lovely city, the hotel is a 15 minute walk and a great base!

Room:

I was fortunate to be staying an Executive Double room in the modern annex at the rear where 90% of the rooms are – less than half a dozen are situated in the original building that takes pride of place on the web site. It was a decent sized spacious air conditioned (although retro fitted) room, with desk area, separate dining table each with a desk chair, although there was no comfortable chair in which to sit and relax. A 32 inch satellite TV with a full range of channels. A separate wall mounted iron and ironing board (rather than stored in a wardrobe), Corby trouser press and when accompanied by brown bedroom furniture, green bedroom walls and green carpet with a yellow walled but white suited bathroom rather sets the tone for the Milford Hall which is a bit of a 70s throw back in places but its clear that elements have been modernised and its all rather well meaning and friendly. The room was immaculately clean and well maintained as was the whole hotel.

Location:

A really handy location it is a 10 min level stroll from the market square and all the attractions Salisbury has to offer. One of the only hotels in Salisbury that is inside the ring round and has free parking .

Service:
Cheerful welcome at check in. Room service staff cheerful, courteous and well mannered. Waiting staff at breakfast greeted me with a joyous good morning even as I walked past the restaurant on the way out for a run at 0700 hrs. At breakfast itself the staff were helpful, and friendly and clearly had learnt customer service.

Food/Restaurant:

I ate from the restaurant menu on a room service basis, the whole restaurant menu being avail on a room service basis which is unusual.. Really good food specialising in meat and fish, even on room service – could eat for commfortably and well for £25 a head. Had breakfast and it was certainly worth getting up for.

Internet:

Free fast wifi in all rooms – really easy access.

Recommendation:

Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to all. Location is everything. Just remember the photograph of the hotel on the web site is of the original old house which only contains less than half a dozen rooms. See enclosed photographs for an executive double.

Whilst on a short break in Salisbury, we came across Milford Hall Hotel which offered a two and three course meal deal. We were met with a warm welcome and shown to the lounge bar. The staff were very friendly and we decided to try their food, both my wife and I both had excellent meals which we considered great value and would recommend to all.

My husband and I stayed at Milford Hall for our 20th wedding anniversary and we were over the moon with the experience. The food was perfect and the room was gorgeous. A special metion has to go the the night porter Graham who was a joy to have looking after us. His sense of humour, easy going manner and exceptional helpfulness (especially as my husband is disabled) made our trip. Also a mention has to go to Emily our breakfast waitress who had a beaming smile and seemed to enjoy her job. The rapport between the staff, especially the two mentioned (we think they are a couple, but even so their engaging manner with us and each other made our anniversary that extra bit special) makes the stay an absolute pleasure. Thank you milford hall, see you next year!
