I have visited here many times before and quite enjoyed my visit, so decided to take a friend.
But what a disappointment with several things that have been changed. My friend red the sign outside and said oh great it is a historic house as well. But the cabinet with artifacts and stories that told you about the house has gone! As has the painting that one of the previous occupiers of the house had done of the house.
There is also an empty cabinet which I am told has been empty since February.Previously I remember there being a very emotive scene in there. Why take something out if you aren't ready to put anything in it's place.
Then you have tacky large plastic ducks for a kid's trail, whilst I am all for engaging children, why a duck? Why not a small plastic soldier?
Finally it would appear from other friends, Friday is a good day to go if you want helpful volunteers with information. Saturday, you get virtually ignored.

This is an excellant example of a local military museum . Well set out with interesting exhibits, and very helpful volunteers. The garden of the house is a gem too.

A nice leisurely look around the museum and looking at the war through the years, we parked in their forecourt although this is not really permitted and you must tell them you have parked there. The tea rooms next door are a must.

A very interesting museum with excellent exhibits of the Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiments known latterly as The Rifles. Only small but packed with interest. Very well exhibited.
