We visited this site as part of our Stonehenge tour. They drop you off at a local bus stop, where you cautiously walk across a busy road and up past a lay by where a 'blue' postcard size sign (on a post) points you towards a path. We walked through a gate and up the hill along a rough path. Through another gate which led onto a road leading to the car park. We then walked through the car park and over a bridge to the old castle; this probably took us half an hour all up. It was worth it to walk around the ruins of the old castle and to look down onto the site of the original cathedral.
