“A must visit hotel”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

Just returned from a two night stay at TLC, and what a fantastic find this was. Very quirky which adds to the whole experience of staying in a hotel. We had the Moo Room, which was more of a suite, massive bathroom, bedroom with a large dressing area seperating the bathroom and bedroom. The stairs are a little on the sloping side, but again this all adds to the charm of staying in an old building. Room had all the mod cons you could ask for. All staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Did not have an evening meal, but the breakfasts were good. Really nice bar and bar staff. Excellent location for walking around Salisbury.

All in all, if you are bored of staying in the same old hotel rooms, with old fashioned and drab decor, get yourslf a night or so at TLC, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a memorable one.

Room Tip: If you can make the walk up the three flights of stairs, book the Moo room......

No need for a rambling review here. The experience was excellent. From friendly Olivia on reception, who gave me a tour of the room and pointed out the cool features (nespresso machine, iPod dock, bathrobes) to helpful Paula in the restaurant. The room was amazing (logshack No 17) and the bed comfy. The food in the restaurant was excellent and overall the experience was memorable for all the right reasons. Stay at The Lazy Cow (TLC) you will not be disappointed!

My wife and I have just completed a two night stay at this amazing venue.
From check-in to check-out it was an unforgettable break...for all of the right reasons!
The staff are superb, friendly and knowledgable, yet without the sycophantic "Yes Sir, No Madam" so often annoyingly associated with hotel staff. We stayed in room 5,a Black and Gold themed room on the first floor above the bar. The room is fantastic value for money...well proportioned and tastefully equipped with all mod-cons.
I must mention noise pollution...as several reviewers have touched on this already. Our room was above the bar and therefore subject to an astonishing amount of music pollution from the bar's sound system. The solution is obvious...stay in the bar until the music stops and take advantage of the superb cocktails!
On the subject of downstairs...the restaurant is quite simply brilliant. The choice of steaks is amazing, and cooked exactly as requested. The accompanying chips are literally the best you will ever sample...and the onion rings need to be seen to be believed!
The morning-after-breakfast did not disappoint, either...and even includes more steak...!
Salisbury itself is a lovely old town, with plenty of retail therapy for the ladies, and the most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen. The tour to the top of the tower is an absolute must...worth every penny.
All in all, we had a fantastic mini-break, and would recommend both Salisbury and The Lazy Cow wholeheartedly...BUT...be prepared for the noise...and use it as an excuse to stay in the bar...

Room Tip: Room 5 is on the first floor. As mentioned it is a great size...but above the bar! Be forewarned of...

I just stayed for one night and had the log-cabin room. It was fine and quirky for 1 night, but i would not have liked to stay in that room for more than a couple of nights. Rooms was in the separate annex and at night was quite warm and noisy, but that did not spoil the night. Bathroom a nice size and the shower was good. It is a quirky place and the staff were very good - especially the receptionist, she made you feel very welcome. The bar etc and restaurant is very, very good. The food is top quality, service was average. I would stay there again and also eat there - the steaks were legendary.

Just got back from a weekend at TLC on the KGB deal which was fab value. The welcome was warm and friendly and the room we were allocated was beautifully decorated in the "log cabin" style, very nice with a lovely bathroom. BUT, our room, room 3 was right above the bar. On the Friday night I rang down at half past midnight to ask them to turn off the music as we couldn't sleep; they did so immediatelty. On the Saturday night at 11.30 pm I invited the hotel manager into our room to listen to the volume of music ( which was very loud). He admitted the music was loud but that the bar had a licence until 1 am and he'd review our bill in the morning; not really the point. Had I paid their rack rate I would have been very unhappy, but I didn't, and as such was very happy with the except of the noise and the manager's attitude to it. The food in the resturant is great albeit expensive and the breakfast great. Would I visit again? Yes if it was on a reasonable deal, not full price, but I'd take my ear plugs with me rather than buying them on a Saturday morning after a bad experience. Perhaps a pair of ear plugs would be more usful that the White Company mending kit you provide?

We booked this through late rooms for a quick stop off through Salisbury knowing nothing about it beforehand. This place really has to be experienced and it's hard to describe the quirkiness of the place but I think the phrase "Grace Kelly meets Lady Gaga" is entirely justified. Great staff, friendly and welcoming (if you're after yes sir/no sir/3 bags full sir you've come to the wrong place) and the room and decor was brilliant. EVERTHING is cow themed. Including the milk bottle chandelier. Steak house was an experience, you'll never have more choice of steak or better cooked; pricey but worth every penny. My only quibble would be that the room was a little cold due to radiator not working (we should have mentioned this to the staff but didn't so fair enough!) and it was a bit drafty- but the whole experience was so positive I have to rate it as excellent.

We stay at the lazy cow all the time - its an amazing place. Wonderful atmosphere, gorgeous rooms, really nice touch with the bottle of wine, the staff are always lovely and the food is great. There is nothing you can fault this hotel on. Its quirky and wonderful.
As for the review saying the walls are paper thin and you heard loads of noise from the next room - i can only apologise, it was probably us - its called FUN!! x

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely - would like to tell you about my favourite but then there's less chanc...
