“So disappointed, Don't go if you want a quiet getaway and a good night sleep.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

We decided to stay in T L C for 2 nights 21-22 Feb 2014, arrived at Reception to book in and was told that we had paid quite a lot more for our room and would be upgraded and the guy at the desk said it was his favourite room, wish we had checked and read the reviews as this had happened to someone else.. We should of asked to view the room before we took it... The room was room 8 and should have realized straight away as the door was very difficult to unlock and lock... Sink was cracked in the Bathroom, tiles were filthy, Radiator didn't work, Light hanging of the ceiling... Bedroom no Teabags in the room, Lamp not working, Logs missing on the ceiling,Carpets filthy and bed would have been more comfy sleeping on a log... Do not have a room looking over the courtyard as people were out there until 3am.. Breakfast was good, but staff are so young and not interested.. We asked after Breakfast for some Teabags and Toilet rolls, At 11 pm when we got back they weren't there. Again reading the reviews we had the room that had only 1 key.. They need more trained staff as it's too laid back there.... Would I go back there ?.NO!!!!!! You definitely don't get what you pay for....

Room Tip: Not room 8

Our stay was excellent from start to finish.
James and staff were fantastic. Always available and happy to help with even the smallest detail.
The whole package, the rooms, the food, the service, were brilliant.
We highly recommend The Lazy Cow and look forward to our next stay.
Thanks again guys, Don(Geoff), Tania and Ally. :)

Room Tip: We were facing Salisbury Cathedral and found both our rooms to be brilliant.

On arrival there was no one at the front desk, so we had to go back outside to ring the doorbell we then went back to the front desk, had to wait a good 10 minutes before anyone came out to us, when we got to our room it was very spacious and the room was lovely to be honest. We had a meal booked in the evening, the service was amazing in the restaurant and the ribs were honestly the best me and my partner have ever had.
The next day when we left again had the same problem . . .no one at the front desk so made our way to the restaurant. . . greeted by a rude waitress (so we decided not to have breakfast here) and just cheked out, when the girl eventually came to the front desk (believe it was the manager) she didn't even ask how our stay was and we were shocked when we had another bill, (althought we had already previously paid online). need to make this more clear on your website!!!

Overall . .. .

Lovely rooms
amazing food
majority of the staff are very friendly

need to have someone on reception!!!
and be a bit politer when people check in/ check out!!!

After having to request for a coffee machine and an iron (missing presumed AWOL from the room) followed by a 15 minute wait to be served in the restaurant (which was virtually empty) and a rare steak that could have been cooked at Chernobyl the last straw was complete lack of breakfast staff. The chef was little use and it was only when I asked for milk, bread and butter was I able to have cereal and toast. Eventually the receptionist appeared, 25 minutes late, with hair like Don King and apologising profusely. Too late me thinks as everyone has checked out of this place. To add to this the bath in room 3 does not drain. The hotel may try and blame the age of this place for it's plumbing but my own home is over 300 years old and there are no such issues. Avoid like the proverbial!!!

Room Tip: Don't book here!

On the surface it looked like a great stay....alas not. I have had a more comfortable nights sleep camping without an air mattress. Worst bed ever!! Plus the shower dripped LOUDLY all night despite attempts to shut it off.
Lazy Cow? More like 'Pig in a Tuxedo'. What a disappointment!!
