Owner description: St Thomas’s Church. A welcome in the heart of the city Dating mostly from the Fifteenth Century, the Church of St Thomas a Becket stands in its own square at the north end of Salisbury High Street, a two-minute walk from the Cathedral Close. This has been a place of worship since the early Thirteenth Century. Please come in for a look round. Try to spot the “damned bishop” being led to Hell in the famous Doom painting. Or why not try counting all 250 angels on the roof, walls and pillars? There is full disabled access to all public areas of the church with ramps and an automatic door. Quiet, boisterous, contemplative, social: it’s always a good time to drop in to St Thomas’s. We’d be happy to meet you whenever you can stop by.

“Stunning”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Don't miss this little gem of a church - still retains all the love that was endowed on it by its builders. Very peaceful inside, although life throbs outside. Close your eyes and soak up the atmosphere.

“Quaint parish church”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We stumbled across this church as we meandered our way around the city centre. Beautiful ceiling, frescos and tapestries. Worth well the half hour visit.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Founded in 1220, it is a beautiful church. The painting of Christ above the apse is wonderful and rare since the Puritans tried to destroy these during the Reformation. The bell ringers are also very friendly.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

We had watched a programme on BBC 4 about the mural in the church so decided to pop in and take a look ourselves. It is a lovely church and well worth a visit.

Great mural/painting - don't miss it and make sure to read about it! Hidden away but right downtown so easy to find.
