Charter 1227 has had an exciting history and owner/chef Danny has survived a devastating fire to re-open this comfortable and relaxing restaurant looking out from the first floor on the Salisbury market place. It is worth the slight challenge to find the narrow entrance between Costa coffee and a fish and chip shop, and enter another calm, luxurious and welcoming world. We sampled the light lunch menu which was beautifully served by very efficient and skilled waiting staff. The food was high quality, the presentation was excellent, and only the desserts on this occasion failed slightly to live up to expectation - pleasant but a little over-priced for their content this time perhaps. The rest of the menu and wine list were good value. Certainly this is a place which deserves its high rating in Salisbury, and it is worth rising to the challenge of finding it.
