The small Nadder valley village of Dinton is remarkably well served for attractions, with not just one but two NT properties. Philipps House is a tenanted property and is only open two days a week. The house itself is a neo classical mansion with an imposing two storey portico. Its chief delight lies in its setting in ancient parkland, enclosed by mature trees, a small lake and rolling terrain. Within Dinton Park is a smaller Queen Anne mansion, Hyde House, with its exquisite gardens tantalisingly glimpsed from the other side of the ha-ha which encloses it. There are few other facilities here, but the discerning visitor will overlook that for the sheer beauty on offer.
