What a great location! Situated next to the Cathedral (St Anne's Gate is literally across the road) - we couldn't have got closer if we tried. The place is very neat and the rooms clean and tidy with comfortable beds and all the amenities you could want - including Wenda's lovely homemade cookies :-)

And that gives a clue to what made this stay great - the attention to detail and friendly reception we received from Steve and Wenda was second to none. They were very knowledgable about the area and suggested a really interesting route to get to Avebury through quaint thatched villages and breathtaking scenery. They have also negotiated discounts at various eating places - we had a great Italian meal at Strada (with a discount) and lovely meals at the Cloisters Inn just down the road. We stayed for five nights and were disappointed to leave.

As for the second 'B' - the breakfasts were something to look forward to. Steve prepared consistently perfect meals - don't miss the pancakes! Wenda introduced each of the guests to each other and conversation flowed easily around the breakfast table.

We were able to park right across the road, courtesy of Steve's parking voucher, and he gave great directions and made excellent suggestions for interesting places to visit in and around Salisbury

Honestly, Steve and Wenda were the perfect hosts and really enhanced our stay in this beautiful town. We'll be back for sure :-)

Wenda and Steve are the perfect hosts. Their house is immaculate and the rooms are cosy and comfortable. They make sure that all your needs are met – arrival time, parking, breakfast choices, attractions to visit, restaurant recommendations etc etc. This was our first stay at Cathedral View but we were welcomed as if we were friends. To set us up for two days of sightseeing and exploring, Steve has a supply of walking guides and maps and will let you know the times of buses to Stonehenge, evensong at the Cathedral and everything else that’s going on in Salisbury. We had already booked two restaurants that he approved of (Anokaa and Cranes Wine Cafe – see reviews) and he would have happily made reservations for us. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit salad each morning and plenty of juice, home made jams & marmalade, toast and coffee. Any special requests can be left on a note on the hall table the night before. This is a superb B&B.

In late July of 2013 my son and I did a trip from California to the UK to visit family and do some sightseeing. Upon leaving some cousins in Dorset we headed towards Salisbury with a plan to stay at a B&B. We had made no prior booking and would just check out places upon arrival. We were very fortunate to come across what looked like a great place to stay with an ideal location (very close to the Cathedral and town center).

Our hosts Steve and Wenda provided exceptional customer service and their accommodations were very comfortable, quiet and clean. My son and I were looking forward to a good English breakfast and we were not disappointed – it was excellent and really made a good start to the day in terms of energy levels for the planned sightseeing ahead.

I would highly recommend this quaint historical B&B and would certainly not hesitate to stay again and enjoy Steve and Wenda’s hospitality.

Though the road in front of this B&B is very busy and parking can be a bit challenging, this is still a great place to stay in Salisbury. The B&B does have parking permits so we could park on the street. Not only is it fairly centrally located -- and right across the street from the Cathedral! -- the hosts are a wealth of information and very helpful. Steve had printed guides and great suggestions on places to visit and eat. They even have negotiated discounts at several places. The rooms were very clean and had homemade cookies to greet us. The bathrooms had the needed amenities for travelers, and the beds were comfortable. We had a beautiful view over the back gardens, while our daughter & husband had a view of the cathedral. And the breakfast was wonderful! Steve has found the best sausages and makes delicious homemade jams. There are options for everything from fruit and granola to a full breakfast. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: There are no elevators, but Steve helped us carry the luggage upstairs.

We stayed at the Cathedral View when we visited Salisbury in September. Wenda and Steve are excellent hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. They made us feel right at home immediately! Steve has a map of the historic sights in the area (and there are many) to visit with descriptions of their relevance. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring all that Salisbury had to offer! Practically right across the street from the cathedral!
