This is a fantastic b&b . The location is stunning in the Close overlooking the Cathedral and you get a hearty breakfast but most importantly they have the most wonderful friendly and helpful staff .if you are looking for the blandness and routine of a chain hotel this isn't for you but for a memorable stay you can't do better in Salisbury

Sarum college is worth staying at. It was inexpensive, well appointed-especially considering it is a college not a hotel- and in the close of the Cathedral. It was so nice to be able to go back to the grounds after closing and watch the sunset. The "dorm mother" at the desk was so nice and helpful too. She also gave great directions. The only challenge we had was finding it. Don't trust your GPS or SatNav to get you there.

What a lovely experience being in the Cathedral close in the evening and early morning! Having such a beautiful setting at one's fingertips is astounding. Nearby Mompesson House is a stunning visit, especially for Jane Austen (film) fans. The breakfast was adequate and serviceable, but the parking within the close worth every penny!

Look no further if you want a very reasonably priced B&B with the cathedral a step away, and delightful surroundings. This lovely, characterful, building was once a residential theological college. It still offers courses and there are academic staff around. It has a bookshop, a chapel, a library, and a refectory (where other meals may be available at additional cost, and dependent upon what is going on in the college). There is parking at no additional cost.
If you want something very smart then this is not the place for you. But if you want value for money, an interesting place in a lovely location, with the whole of the city on your doorstep, then this is the place to go.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a cathedral view. Most are en suite. Some are doubles. Singles well catered for.

I spent a full month in this place.
Since I was in a training session.
Located in the heart of the city and close to the markets, as the alleged location overlooking Cathedral Square.
Old place in nature, and the rooms are very suitable and hygiene.
Workers in the place always thrilled, and provide assistance.
And feel like home.
Living in this place respecting privacy, as they come to rest, recreation and relaxation.
The place where I would choose to stay in it again, when I come back this will inevitably place.

Room Tip: the sin gal en suit room, third floor is very nice to stay at , nice view, spacious and less noise.

Behind the period exterior, Sarum College is clean, modern, and well-maintained throughout. It has the feel of a modern university hall of residence for grown-ups, in that the rooms are small and simple, the dining is refectory style, and the facilities are limited. For example, the single rooms have no bathroom doors, TV, radio, minibar, phone, trouser press, safe, room service etc, but they do have excellent lighting, good wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, and enough storage. Parking is limited but was OK as there was no course on when I visited. The range of breakfast foods was more limited than in a hotel, but there was something for everyone: porridge, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cooked breakfast, toast, tea, coffee, juices etc. The college was quiet and peaceful. Despite its Christian affiliation it is not so overtly Christian in terms of icons, symbols, and pictures as to make those of other faiths or none feel out of place. Its trump card is its location, in Salisbury's beautiful and quiet Cathedral Close, straight out of Barchester Towers. The college itself is just across the green from the cathedral, and some rooms have cathedral views. This also means that guests automatically have a parking place in the close, a valuable benefit, and can explore the small city on foot.

Room Tip: Ask for a cathedral view. You may be lucky if you book early enough.

Great to be back in college! Met fellow students from 2001 for a reunion. Warm welcome as ever from Linda. Single room ensuite very comfortable. Breakfast generous and well cooked - eggs, bacon, tomatoes. Cereal, yogurts, toast. Stayed for lunch self service beautifully cooked cottage pie and roasted veg and cauliflower. Fruit crumble for dessert. Wine available. Set menu but great value.
Located in the Cathedral Close and easy walking to the city.
