“Great for a short stay”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We stayed at 2 Park Lane for an overnight stop en route to a friend’s house in Dorset. We wanted to be within walking distance of Salisbury so we didn’t need to use the car.

We originally found it difficult to find the house as our sat nav didn’t recognise Park Lane as it is a private road but once we were in the vicinity we spotted the road sign and then found the house. The turn into the car park is a little tight if you have a large car but there is enough parking at the back for everyone. The house itself is I think Victorian with some lovely original features.

We were greeted by the owner (Nat) who gave us a map of Salisbury and showed us the route to walk into town which is through the park next door to the house and then along the river. This was very pleasant and took about 25 minutes to the main square and a little longer to the cathedral. I’m not sure I would like to do the walk back after dark though but there is the option of returning on the main road.

Our room (No 2) was very nice with a comfy bed, TV and tea/coffee making facilities and very clean. The bathroom was a good size with a shower over the bath. Ample towels and toiletries were provided. However, this room overlooked the main road and even though the house is set back a little from the road we did experience traffic noise as we needed the window open due to it being a warm night.

Breakfast is ordered the night before and you are asked to provide an approximate time when you would like to eat. The owner (Helen) was there to greet us and fetched us tea and coffee. You help yourself to juice, toast etc and if a cooked breakfast has been ordered this then follows soon afterwards as it is freshly cooked.

We were able to leave our car in the car park after we checked out which was appreciated and gave us the morning for some more sightseeing.

We would definitely recommend 2 Park Lane for a short stay but if we stayed again would ask for a room at the back of the house if possible.

Room Tip: Room 2 overlooks the main road so a little noisy

This modern B&B in an Edwardian(?) house is well equipped and kept very clean. The hosts are very approachable. The city centre is easily reachable by foot through a pleasant park, which is just in front of the house, and along the river. It's easy to find, just off one of the major roads into Salisbury. This is also the only downside, in that there is some noise from the road.

Very welcoming and accomodating staff. Breakfast was delicious and the staff suggestions of things to do and where to eat were much appreciated. The rooms were very sympathetically and tastefully decorated and the beds extremely comfortable after a long day of sightseeing. The only downside was the uneven road outside the b & b but a very small fault on an otherwise great stay. Would definately stay here again if we were in the area.

Great location, convenient parking, wonderful room and charming hosts. couldn't have been a better choice for touring Stone Henge and Salisbury. Upon the advice of Nat, the proprietor, we walked through a lovely park and then the river path to the city center. Perfect.

This is a very welcoming and pleasant B & B on the outskirts of Salisbury. It is an easy and lovely walk along the river into the City so you can leave your car and not worry about the parking costs of visiting such a place.
The B & B is very clean and tastefully decorated blending original Victorian features with modern day comforts. Our room was a nice size and everything worked as it should. Breakfast was very nice with a selection of cereals fresh fruits and a choice of cooked English.

We had a friendly welcome and pleasant chats after breakfast about our plans for the day which was nice.
I can recommend this B & B as a very nice place to stay for a visit to Salisbury

We booked for one night and had an excellent stay. The rooms were comfortable and we slept really well. The whole guest house is very clean. The breakfast was tasty. It is an easy and straight forward walk to the town centre. Our host was very good.

Welcoming, warm, very comfortable, excellent breakfasts. Helen and Nat are two of the best B&B proprietors we have met. We stayed three nights with two Australian friends who were equally impressed. We will be back!
