“Racing Weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2012

We booked this hotel as it was near to Ascot racecourse where we were attending the Autumn flat meeting.
The Hotel looks from the outside to need a little TLC. There is plenty of parking space and once inside a cosy if slightly dated feel. Our room was spacious and recently refurbished comfortable bed and views of the garden. There is a large comfortable sitting room and a bar on the ground floor. We were able to check in early and get off to the races in plenty of time. I think at the price a full English breakfast should be included but as we were lunching with friends didn't matter to us.
The owners wife is very hospitable and very helpful and all in all I felt comfortable here and enjoyed our stay and would definately stay here next time we go to Ascot for the races.

Well, its not a 5 star place, thats for sure. But comfortable, and nice to enjoy a drink. They dont serve dinners, but the breakfast was not that great...
its cheaper than others (or at least should be), so a good location to stop at.

Wonderful experience at this hotel.

We stayed here for a visit to the Ascot races. It's close to the racecourse and much cheaper than others in the area. It's not a five-star hotel, but is perfect for the purpose. The welcome was extremely friendly, we checked in early, and the room at the top (no. 9) was charming, airy, clean and comfortable to stay in. I can't understand many of the negative reviews left before, unless people are expecting to have lifts, room service, a swimming pool etc. It's a small place that does the right things very nicely. And the cooked breakfast for 7 pounds was well worth it, though the included continental breakfast also had good ingredients.

Our room had twin beds, as I hadn't specified on booking.com that a double would be better. The owners offered to make it into a double, which was very kind and we said that it wouldn't be necessary for a one-night stay.

Room Tip: Only saw no. 9, which was at the top with some stairs to climb, in case someone is not too mobile. I...

This was cheap compared to other hotels in the area - I was simply looking for somewhere to stay the night of a wedding so was not terribly bothered about dated furniture etc. What I found disappointing however was the appaling attitude of the owner and his staff. Oh - and the dead cockroach on the bathroom floor was not terribly impressive!

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel.

I stayed at this Hotel last night. As I had a business meeting in Farnborough. Hotel room was jaded, never seen so may air fresheners.

Hotel receptionist was friendly albeit she could have been more welcoming. The valence was ripped and you could here the other guests through the walls. Real shame as the hotel looks excellent from the outside. Could do with a renovation...

The twin room room was gaudy with wallpaper hanging off the wall. Duvet covers loked like they had seen better days and were not matching on the twin beds. Bathroom had only 1 bath towel for a twin room (we told them it was 2 single ladies travelling!).
Breakfast was basic to say the least and we had to ask for some coffe and toast and then was only given 1 slice of bread each.
Staff could do with smiling more, but I expect with all the mediocre reviews they are getting, I can understand why.
How about putting some effort in to modernise and renovate the place and remove those awful "do not do this" laminated signs stuck all over the bedroom and bathroom.
Did answer my booking email prompltly though. Not sure I would call £89pn a good reflection of value for money.

I stayed there for one night while on a business trip. The hotel is small, but very nice. You get more of a B&B feeling, the staff is very warm and kind. The room I stayed in was very nice, with a classic English furniture & design. The window looked out in a nice garden. The place is very quiet, one can hear the birds singing in the morning. You can get a very good sleep.

The bathroom accessories, like the hotel itself is not too new, suffering a bit from this, but there is nothing to complain about it.

Price is acceptable, overall a place I would definitely recommend and get back to if I will have the chance.
