“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2010

Paul and Rowena were the perfect hosts. Our room which was situated downstairs was spacious, clean, tidy and well equipped. We had breakfast in the conservatory and marvelled at the different types of birds washing themselves in the small fountain. The breakfast cooked by Paul was wonderful especially the mushrooms. All manner of jams and marmalade were provided and the ones homemade by their neighbour were sumptuous. We would definitely stay there again. A truly wonderful experience.

We were looking for a B&B between London and Oxford, and found Woodford House. Easy to find thanks to Paul's directions. Warm welcome, great breakfasts, lovely dog. Very spacious and light basement-room. Nicely situated for trips (by car) to Oxford or by train to London. Paul and Rowena do their best to make sure you feel comfortable.
If you are a light sleeper you might have problems with some noise from other bathrooms due to the system used.

You wouldn't believe it, but just 20 minutes from Heathrow is Taplow, a most charming English village amidst sprawling, suburban London. The Woodford House is quite lovely. Recently converted home into a B&B, with beautiful gardens and delightful hosts. The rooms are quite modern, comfortable and pleasant on the eyes. You get your fill at breakfast and if you are around later in the day, the owner's will make you a nice tea, maybe with some biscuits. The value was exceptional when I was there, but since it was so new and the owners just started in the B&B business, it was way underpriced. They will probably raise their price to market rates, now that the recession is on the way out, but it will still be worth it.

The owners will pick you up from Heathrow, for a fee, or you can take a bus (easy to catch at Heathrow) and they will pick you up from the Taplow stop at no charge.

In Taplow there are lovely homes to see, a wonderful pub for lunch or dinner and the original squash court, on which all other squash courts are based. If you ask nicely, the owners will take you on their daily dog walk and give you the interesting history of the area with breathtaking English countryside views. They will also help you plan your touring of the area with good advice and copies of maps. The train station is a 20-30 min. walk.

If you are a few days in England and do not want to stay in London, The Woodford House in Taplow is the perfect place. I highly recommend it!

We had a wonderful stay at Woodford House. Nothing was too much trouble for Paul and Rowena. We enjoyed our breakfasts every morning in the conservatory, overlooking very picturesque and peaceful surroundings. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable.

We are a family with two teenagers. The room was very good, clean and espacious, but I don´t like rooms in the basement. The braekfast was fantastic in a beautifull covered terrace over the garden. Finally the owners were a fantastic couple, thak you for your charming attendance.

Very warm welcome, Paul and Rowena are just so lovely, absolutely family friendly. The room was light, nice, clean and comfy. And a good cooked breakfast to begin the day. Well, we definitely recommend it to anyone with (or without) children.

Being a frequent traveller I usually stay at B&Bs for the value and because I severely dislike the impersonal hotel scene. Sometimes the experience is commendable and worthy of a comment - in this case I have been a guest on 3 occasions (full weeks), always found it a pleasure and must say that I cannot fault Woodford House, Paul and Rowena.
Excellent rooms, spotless, warm and inviting. It is always good to see the attention for detail when you come to breakfast and notice that your hosts remembered your preference for toast spread, making sure it was there for you, even if in this case that meant buying a product that is not common. It is this attention to detail, the warmth of the rooms and the friendliness of Paul and Rowena (and Penny) that in my view places Woodford house well above the average B&B.
Looking forward to come back and this time I will have to try Paul's scrambled eggs...
