“Peacefull and relaxing but lacking in detail”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

My friend and I had a day spa here. The pool was very relaxing and we did enjoy our day however various areas were lacking or disappointing. In the pool one hydrotherapy bed, the swan shower and one lot of jets were not working. In the treatment showers, the warm body jets were not warm and if I stood in the middle they did not reach my body as they were too weak and we could not get the tropical shower to work at all. When we had our facials we were not asked about our skin types or preferences so I can only assume that all ladies on a spa day have the same skin types and allergies. The changing room for the whole spa consists of one chair, one mirror one toilet one shower one hairdryer and when we went in after another couple of ladies (as we obviously had to wait for our turn) the room was untidy with their robes and glasses etc. In the toilets there is a hand towel, which does not meet health and safety and as there is no rail this just sat on the shelve above the toilet! I would have thought by now everyone would offer single hand towels or air dryer. As we left everyone said goodbye and thank you however we were chased after to settle our extras, £14 for two cups of coffee and two teas. Sorry Fredricks as it did all from the surface look so nice

Dear Rachel M,
Thank you for your review and the comments you make.

I am not going to hide the fact that I am terribly disappointed in your remarks, because the simple fact is that the issues with some of our equipment that you mention are true.
I have recently started here as General Manager and we have just appointed a very experienced Spa Manageress who starts next week.
We have outlined an extensive plan of necessary maintenance issues that we will address in the next coming weeks and are indeed going to close the area to make sure that we give certain parts the necessary time and attention they deserve.
Please contact me on 01628 581000 and I would love to go through the plan that we have to re launch The Spa at Fredrick's.
I am very excited about our future plans going forward and especially now that we have an experienced professional coming on board to help us with our future plans.

Thank you again for letting me know your thoughts and please call me when the time is right.

Kind regards,

Jeremy du Plessis.

In the run up to our wedding on 15th February we were told we could not get married due to flooding and so we had to change our venue with 4 days to go (Lillibrooke Manor). We had guests travelling quite a distance for us and we had always planned to accommodate them for the night of our wedding.
We could not have been more happy with the way that Alix Matania looked after us which meant that our bride and bridesmaid were able to stay over the night before the wedding and had breakfast brought to them the morning after. We also would like to thanks Luca for looking after us in the bar after our wedding until about 3.30am! Alix also managed to arrange a private room for us the following morning so we could have breakfast with all our guests.
What seemed like it was going to be a tragedy earlier in the week ended being the best day of our lives and we have Fredricks to thank in part for this! We wish you the best of luck for the future!

Dear Darveer_Sahans,

Thank you for posting your thoughts and letting us all know just how much you enjoyed your Wedding Day with us.
I am delighted that at very short notice, Alix was able to pull out all the stops and sort things out for you during the floods. I know it was a very stressful time for you all, but how nice it was that we all got there together and your big day was such a memorable occasion for you both.
We all look forward to seeing you come back and enjoy a night with us as a couple who held their Wedding with us, just another little personal touch that we feel makes us a wee bit different from the rest of most hotels.
We like to have that personal touch as you know.
Enjoy the Honeymoon and when things settle down, come and see us all again!!

My sincerest best wishes to you both and much happiness together.

I stayed 22nd Feb, Saturday night after my wedding and all during the lead up Alix was fantastic even organising a tailor made breakfast for my guests (american style pancakes were lick smackingly good!)
Great suite, extremely patient bar staff, lovely spa, clean, friendly and even a follow up customer care call from Jeremy :)
They were accomadating, professional and I thoughly enjoyed my stay.
Can't wait to take advantage of some spa offers to make an excuse to go back!
Very happy bride xxx

Have just returned from a lovely weekend staying in this hotel with my husband. We used the spa which was quiet a small one but well laid out with both indoor and outdoor pools, a steam room and sauna, various showers and a relaxation room. We both had massages which were great and little touches such as providing us with small bowels of fruit pieces and iced tea following our treatments was appreciated and not something you usually get.
All the staff in the hotel were helpful and polite and we really enjoyed our evening meal with the waiting staff being very accommodating regarding my husband's fussy food habits by providing alternatives. The breakfast was tasty and made to order.
The rooms were larger than average and very clean. We found the large bed very comfortable.
We enjoyed the art around this hotel and the garden looked well laid out although the weather wasn't really good enough to use it during our stay.
Would definitely return if we were in this area again.

I stayed here for two nights, the night before, and the night of my wedding. On the night before, we checked in and I was shown to my room, it was quite a big room but there was so much in it that it seemed quite small. The bathroom was nice and it was a comfortable nights sleep.
Breakfast was basic compared to what I was expecting, the breakfast room was quite small so getting to the buffet food was a little awkward with everyone walking around and there wasn't a great range on offer.

I had let the management know that I and my bridesmaids and the Mums would be getting our hair and makeup done at the hotel in the morning, they said that it wasn't a problem but they couldn't offer a larger room for us all to fit in. Because there was no way on earth that 7 of us would fit in my single room, we all squeezed into my parents double room which wasn't too much bigger. Our photographer, however, was allowed into the honeymoon suite to take some photos in the morning. The staff were very polite and the housekeeping and reception staff were very complimentary when I was leaving the hotel in my wedding dress.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite that evening and it was much bigger, plenty of room to move around and the bed was very big and comfortable.
The shower in our room wasn't working, it didn't switch on at all so they said that we could use an adjacent room to shower in. It wasn't ideal and was annoying to wake up to considering how much we had paid for the rooms and it was our first morning as husband and wife. The reception staff did apologise.

I'm not sure that the hotel was value for money. The staff were accomodating but considering how much business we had given them for the wedding party to stay over I would have expected so.

There wasn't anything special for us that would have been a nice touch, some champagne in the honeymoon suite for example, or a congratulations card? Considering we had spent £190 for that night alone, I don't think it was worth the money compared to other hotels we have stayed in.

We stayed at this Hotel on Valentines night, we arrived early due to the bad weather unfortunately our room was not ready, not a problem we decided to go to the bar have a sandwich a drink and relax.
You can not use the Spa facilities until you check in.
The bar area is not inviting it feels more like a business meeting area, we were charged for a G&T that we didn't have, be careful and check your bill.
Our room was nothing special it overlooked a roof that had a moss filled area, the bathroom was very small also but plenty of storage space in the bedroom. If you need tea & coffee making facilities you need to make a request they will bring them to you a very strange arrangement for a 4 star Hotel, be aware you get cheap coffee!!
We had a 5 course tasting menu, enjoyable but nothing to shout about, good wine list and the service was overall good.
The breakfast is below average for a 4 star hotel, it was set out on a table in a corridor, the cheese & ham was dry and looked crinkled, the freshly cut bread was not fresh and the scrambled egg look unappetising to say the least. No crossaints offered or available on the table.
We requested poached and fried eggs and helped ourselves to the bacon and sausage.
We were expecting a freshly cooked breakfast.
The Spa facilities are nice we didn't get to have a treatment as they were fully booked.
All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful.
Overall this Hotel needs updating and the 4 star rating revised, would I recommend to family and friends, possibly no would be a truthful answer.

We stayed here for two nights Thur – Sat early Feb 2014. Overall a very enjoyable stay, but not my usual style of hotel.

Positives:
The spa facilities are beautiful and offer a nice range of services
Immaculately clean and the staff are very helpful
Rooms are very good sizes and nice en-suite facilities
Beds were a little too soft for us but very comfortable overall
Great location for Maidenhead centre and surrounding villages, we were visiting Bray which is only a 5 minute car journey from here.
Negatives:
Slightly stuffy and old fashioned in places, the restaurant and bar area has very little if no atmosphere and is not inviting to want to stay for an evening drink of meal.
The staff were unaware I have paid for B&B and presented us with price options for breakfast, we also felt the continental option was quite limited, that said we didn’t try a warm breakfast but this was prepared and cooked to order.
