We originally booked a one night deal for an executive double room, 3 course meal in the restaurant, use of the spa, and complimentary 1pm checkout. We subsequently decided we wished to stay a further night and the receptionist was very helpful in finding the best price offer that suited us the most.
On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner and all the arrangements that we had previously made were confirmed. We checked in to our room which we found very spacious and well appointed, the only downside was that the lighting was a little dim. We then got changed and made our way to the spa. On arrival it was quite busy and there was no seating available around the pool so decided to start with a sauna and then a swim. The pool is a very nice inside and outside pool, although the water was actually warmer outside than in. There are various spa jets dotted around the pool as well as two spa jet beds. After our swim the seating area had emptied out a little and we were able to relax on a lounger. We also went to the spa the following morning and found it much less busy.
We had a very nice welcome drink in the bar before our meal and were shown through to the dining room punctually at the time we had booked. The three course meal was of the highest quality and was accompanied by excellent service. In the dining room the tables were nicely spaced so we didn't feel we were sitting cheek by jowl with the other diners. The following evening the restaurant was full so we sat in the winter garden and ate from the bar menu which, as well as having bar type food, also had restaurant style food. Again the food was of a good standard, albeit not quite as special as the restaurant.
On the Saturday morning we had a very nice breakfast with a good choice of cereals and viennoiserie as well as a cooked option that we ordered from the menu. On the Sunday however, the hot food was from the buffet and suffered in comparison to the previous day. This was exacerbated by the plates being cold as food from a buffet starts less hot than food cooked to order and then cools very quickly on cold plates. Had we not experienced breakfast the previous day we would have been happy with it apart from the cold plates.
We will definitely return here as we enjoyed the weekend immensely but will probably stick with staying on a Friday night rather than a Saturday because of the breakfast.

It all seemed to get off to a good start on telephone booking as my friend and I were 'upgraded' after we'd let them know we were celebrating a 50th birthday so expectations were pretty high. Maybe it was the Wowcher deal that took it all downhill from there? Our upgraded room was fine but really I can't imagine I'd have been happy with anything below it, The receptionist actually told us that unless we were to see the other room we probably wouldn't appreciate the 'upgrade' which was a little worrying. Fine though, until we tried to go and check out the spa. We were 'greeted' with a look of utmost disdain from the girl at the desk who after much projected contempt told us that we would need to go back to our rooms and put on bathrobes and slippers that were there for spa use. Our mistake I'm sure but no-one had taken us through the procedures so I friendly pointer in the right direction was all that was needed really. We were a little uncomfortable after that and the spa was small and disappointing so we called it a day. After a comfortable enough night we headed for breakfast and as 2 vegetarians it really was pretty poor with very few options and there was just a general air of 'snooty' which was maybe just a hangover from the previous day but I certainly wouldn't return and I'm sure there are some much better hotel options around.

We had dinner at Frederick's yesterday to ceebratev a special birthday. From arrival to departure the staff were very attentive and made the evening very special. The food was excellent and I recommend the delightful crab starter and the light fluffy banana soufflé for dessert. The dining room has been reburbished and we will certainly be back again before Christmas

This was the 2nd time we visited Fredrick Spa and yet again we were so amazed by the staff, service and facilities! The girls were very kind and down to earth, so friendly! From the receptionist, Daria, Vanita to the therapists Mel and Lorena and manager Beata! All of them were outstanding and didn't fail to please us again! Thank you for making our day a memorable one! Will definitely recommend!

Lovely hotel we got an upgrade to the Berkshire suit very nice and spacious with an old world charm about it, check in was fast and efficient with the receptionist very polite, did the usual swim steam room good nose around the hotel, came down for dinner had a drink at the bar all very pleasant, then things went slightly wrong as we ordered starters sea trout which was fairly bland looked good but as I said bland, then mains shin of beef and garlic mash for me with 2 tiny squirts of puréed peas all ok but not on par with the quality of the hotel even worse my wife had mushroom risotto which was tasteless had 2 tiny pieces of mushroom and had been over cooked and was very starchy it's not hard to get risotto right! pudding again just not up to the expected standard of this hotel,

BREAKFAST well where to start very limited continental available seemed a bit like a ghost ship with hardly a member of staff to be seen! we both had the buffet style cooked breakfast limited choice again sausages looked the part but were tasteless mushrooms nice but the scrambled eggs were disgusting the odour alone was enough to make you feel ill unfortunately my wife had eaten a couple fork full's before realising they were off even the couple next to us said how bad they smelt we tried to get a member of staffs attention but no one was around so we left,
on the way home my wife was ill and was for the next 2 days to add insult to injury we had been overcharged for the wine we had at dinner, the reason I gave them 4 stars is the hotel is great most of the staff very helpful but the food leaves a lot to be desired wether we were just unlucky I don't know but as we weren't the only ones disappointed at dinner and breakfast maybe something the management should be looking at, would I go back probably no shame as lovely place let down by substandard food!!
