I have stayed in many hotels over 30 years of travelling and this one has hit number one with me.
When we arrived our rooms were not quite ready. We decided to have coffee while we waited. Before 2 minutes had passed we had coffee and pastries sitting in front of us, complimentary.
The restaurant gave us one of the most enjoyable meals in four weeks of travelling, staff were superb. I could go on and on, just believe me, this is one hell of a hotel, book it and you will not be disappointed.

If you are not looking you could walk straight past this hotel as it has a very small frontage but once inside it is a bit like a tardis! It is modern and contempory unlike a lot of Macdonald hotels. The room we had was lovely, clean and very inviting obviously with the hotels position not brilliant for views but very tasteful outside areas. We stayed for our wedding anniversary and had champagne and gifts on arrival. As other guests have said we also took ideas home to use at home as it was so calming and well decorated. Robes and slippers in the room. The restaurant is also very modern but the food was excellent and we really enjoyed our dinner and breakfast - we could not fault it!
The parking is very expensive at £25 and it is valet service but when we walked around the town we were glad we paid it as parking was almost impossible elsewhere. It would have been nice if it had been cleaned and valeted for that price but hey ho!
Windsor is a lovely place to visit and if you want somewhere comfortable to stay you would be hard pushed to beat this especially if you get on one of the special deals. Really enjoyable.!!

Stayed for two nights in the Macdonald Hotel (Windsor). Decided not to opt for an upgraded room and the standard double room was excellent - spotless, good size, looked out on small courtyard. Decor was lovely...took several photos for ideas when redecorating our bedroom. Good facilities in the room, including robes, slippers, hairdryer, free wifi (although a bit slow) good range and supply of teas, coffees, hot chocolate and shortbread. Had two evening meals in the hotel...food was amazing, especially the desserts.

The staff were very helpful, courteous, friendly, extremely professional and didn't come across like they were 'just doing a job'. Hotel is centrally located for everything really - diagonally across from Windsor Castle, right next to a lovely shopping area in the converted railway station, a short walk in one direction to The Long Walk (3 miles approx) from one of the entrances to the Castle and a walk in the opposite direction across the bridge to Eton and its famous College. The whole area is full of character and steeped in history (right up my hubby's street!). Enjoyed a tour around the spectacular Windsor Castle.
Would highly recommend a visit to Windsor and think you'd be hard pushed to find a better place to stay than Macdonald Hotel. Hope to pay a return visit.

We stayed at the Madondald Windsor to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, from the moment we stepped off the high street in to the hotel, we were transported into a wonderfully calm and inviting environment (quite a relief after the hustle & bustle of the High Street). On checking in, the receptionist congratulated us on our anniversary - which I thought was very nice. Having paid a little extra for a suite we were not disapointed, our room was a split level suite overlooking the High Street, my concerns about noise from the street soon disapeared as we couldn't hear a thing from outside. The suite itself was gorgeous; a sofa/TV/reading room adjoining a wonderfully appointed bedroom with a king size bed. Every little detail was perfect, the decor was warm and relaxing and there were two wardrobes in the bedroom along with a dressing table and seperate table with two comfy chairs, the room also had air-conditioning. The only slight dissapointment was that although there was also a TV in the bedroom, neither this one of the one in the other room had a DVD player but that said, this was a minor thing. The bathroom was spacious with a larger than normal monsoon shower cubicle (with an additional mini hand-held monsoon shower attachement). The best suprise was having returned to our room later in the day, we found a hand written card congratulating us on our anniversary and two boxed (very yummy) cupcakes, what a wonderful touch! Our stay was a dinner, bed & breakfast package and the evening meal in the hotel was everything we expected - relaxing ambience, soft lighting and lovely food. Breakfast the next morning was equally fantastic with everything you could possibly think of (and more!). This hotel offers luxury and customer service far exceeding its 4 stars, it is in a fantastic location only a few mintues walk from the train station, Windsor Castle and town centre. We will definately be returning

Room Tip: Suite 308 overlooks the High Street and is very spacious

If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would! Stayed for 2 nights 13/14 September and we were treated like royalty from the minute we pulled up at the car park to the minute we left by the same means! The staff were polite, cheerful and helpful - something that we tend to see less and less of! We ate on both nights in Caleys restaurant, and the food was exquisite! Compared to some hotels we have stayed at in and around the capital, the food and drinks were not overpriced, but the standard of the food and the service were better than we have had in many countries around the world! We were staying here as a treat for my birthday and on the Friday we went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour, returning quite late. The staff were very helpful and even though the restaurant was busy they fitted us in. Everything about the hotel was just perfect, it was clean and the rooms were decorated beautifully, the staff were helpful, the only complaint we had was that our TV remote didn't work and within 10 minutes of informing reception a new one was brought to the room, and the location of the hotel makes it absolute perfection. Another bonus is free Wi-Fi! A special mention to Andy who works in the bar, he was absolutely top notch, knew his drinks, was cheerful, polite and helpful, and made the evening special once he knew it was my birthday. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful break - we will most definitely be back!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor (5th) and the view was wonderful.

Stayed here for two nights last weekend for our anniversary, had booked a kingside bedroom and boy the bed was in fact huge! If I come again for a break would stick with double sized bed as this was so large we were miles apart! I cannot find anything negative about this hotel and I am a most discerning patron! The rooms were decorated in very stylish colours and furnishings, with everything you may need from an iron and board, to Bose iPod dock, flat screen tv, tea and coffee facilities and complimentary water and magazines. The bathrooms were nicely fitted out, and good quality toiletries. Air con was a nice option to use. Our room admittedly didn't have the best view, (internal courtyard) but the room was soooo nice, I didn't like to say anything. We had breakfast included and this was lovely, with continental option, full English, or smoked fish etc for a nominal additional fee. We ate at Callys on Saturday, service was excellent, with very attentive staff and excellent food. If I had one moan it would be about car park charges, we paid £50 for two nights, I know this is 'Windsor' but do feel as patrons the rate should be lower, they did wash our windscreen but I was expecting a full valet for that price. that aside, even the valet parking was superb, extremely polite helpful staff, car parked and bags taken to our room! You did feel a little bit special there, and I am thinking of taking my parents for a weekend, they would love it! Excellent location well worth a visit!

Dear trish2665

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of the Macdonald Windsor Hotel following your stay with us.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall, particularly the room, facilities and meals you experienced.

I was sorry to note that you were disappointed with the parking charge. Parking is limited in Windsor, and we offer a full valet service. We would never intentionally hide our costs, and offer parking as an additional option when guests book with us. By pre-booking a parking space, we can assure guests of a smoother and easier arrival experience with porterage.

We look forward to welcoming you back with your parents very soon!

Kindest regards

We stayed for one night at the Macdonald hotel on a spur of the moment after visiting the Castle & the town for the day.We booked into this Wonderful hotel after seeing others in the area which though look good, this had a touch of class about it & how right we were.
On arrival at reception to booking out every detail was 1st class. We paid a premium rate as it was a last second decision but the front of house staff threw in breakfast as part of the deal, already Im happy !!
The room was 306 & it was Immacuate,Cleanliness was god here with the shower room, bathroom & hotel room in general at a level to be proud of.
The room came with all the amenities you would expect a 5 star hotel to offer !! although this hotel is classed as a 4 star...Bathrobes,slippers,hairdryer,iron & ironing board, complimentary coffees & teas plus a well stocked minibar. The bed was luxurious in comfort, the bed sheets, pillows & duvet insured our sleep was of the quality that they were !!.
Our room overlooked the side of the Castle & the high road. There was no noise whatsoever.
The staff were very attentive & a special thank you to David on front of house wo made us feel most welcome & Andrew in the bar who made us Fantastic Cocktails, although ALL staff were great including the breakfast staff, which brings me on to the Brilliant variety of fruit, cereals, juices, croissants & full english breakfasts on offer, the choices were vast & delicious.
I have stayed in many a top hotel throughout the world & never felt like writing a review, but I felt compelled to do so here as the staff deserved to be told.If you ever visit Windsor & decide to stay, look no further than this hotel.
Well done to all the team & keep it up.
