“Great Service Great Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

The only thing that lets this hotel down is the cost of rooms and drinks. There is a balance between value for money and too expensive. I loved staying at this hotel but it is a little too expensive. The drinks are a bit too expensive too! £29 for 2 baileys coffees is too much. The staff however are brilliant. I felt as though I could ask for anything and the answer would be 'yes'. If you want great service go here. The rooms are clean and the place stunning!

Dear Shaunl_yo

Thank you for posting your comments following your recent stay at Oakley Court.

Value for money is certainly critical these days, I understand that you felt that our prices were a little high, however my team and I take great care in ensuring we are competitive with all of our pricing compared to similar type hotels in the local market, but I apologise if you feel we are still to highly priced - however on a positive note I was delighted to read that you thought our service levels were "great" and my team "brilliant".

One point of note, 2 Bailey Special Coffee's are £19.

Kind Regards

We had a one night stay on Saturday and found the room to be very clean and spacious with a stunning view. We were in the East wing ground floor, the room was very hot and being on the ground floor the window barely opened, so we had a poor nights sleep. We later found out that there was a fault with the heating which had not been mentioned when we checked in, maybe honesty would be the best policy in these situations?!
Our major disappointment was the bar meal we had. Both ordering the sirloin steak we were presented with a steak that was very thin and less than an inch wide once the fat had been removed. This was extremely poor value for £18 each when the steak would be barely 4oz in weight by the time the fat was removed! We complained to the waitress but were told "they would advise the chef"!! This response is not good enough when paying these prices.
This was a shame is it took the edge off of the "wow!" factor we had on arrival.

Parking was very limited probably due to wedding guests etc, not good in a torrential downpour!

We will be back but would probably not dine at the hotel and we would make sure we had a room with windows that open in case the room is hot!
Sort the room temperature and improve the food portion/quality and it would then be perfect!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden and river are stunning! You don't need a tv, just sit by the windo...

Dear Ibrpty

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at Oakley Court.

I can advise you that our cooling system is currently being completely updated and in the next few days it will be delivering cooled air to our bedrooms - I apologise that you had a disturbed nights sleep due to the warm air in your bedroom.

In addition, I can also advise you that we have a new and greatly improved bar menu going live next week, so this also has been dealt with - hopefully this will ensure that you are able to return to the hotel in the not too distant future to see the enhancements we have made.

Thank you again for your comments.

Kind Regards

Stayed for one night to celebrate my wifes birthday and was extremely impressed with the hotel, the location and the staff. We were called a day or so before to ensure we had no further requirements and to inform of us a wedding reception being held at the hotel during our stay. As it happens we hardly noticed but what a simple but appreciated gesture. The river view was a lovely tranquil addition and the grounds are so well landscaped and maintained.

Room Tip: Choose a river view, its such a lovely tranquil, typically idyllic English setting

I booked a couple of nights at this hotel for my partner's birthday after reading the brilliant reviews and I can honestly say it is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. As soon as we arrived the staff were welcoming, helpful and polite. We were upgraded to a river deluxe double which was a very kind gesture. The room was superb; the bed was one of the biggest beds I have ever seen and was so comfortable. The room itself was also huge, the bathroom was lovely and clean and the view from the window was stunning. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and if we had more time there we would have hired a boat to travel along the Thames. The breakfast was delicious - there was enough of everything you could want. We also spent a couple of hours using the leisure facilities which were nice and peaceful. There is a swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room, all of which are clean/well looked after and it is a lovely relaxing way to spend an afternoon if you have some spare time. There is also a gym if that takes your fancy. If I had one minor gripe it would be that the food is a little on the expensive side - but that is only if I'm being picky! All in all it was a brilliant stay and we will definitely be returning at some point hopefully in the near future.

Room Tip: The East Wing River Deluxe rooms are absolutely superb and have a beautiful view of the grounds.

Our room was very comfortable and quiet and had a great view across the well kept lawn to the river. Of course we paid for a room with river view. This is an idyllic location for a romantic weekend and you are within easy reach of riverside destinations like Windsor, Eton, Cookham and Bray. The hotel was very busy when we were there, hosting two weddings and an anniversary but our room was still quiet. I believe you can hire boats through the hotel. The restaurant is pleasant. The menu would benefit from having some non-meat choices but the chef was happy to remove meat from the fish dishes on offer. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for a river view.

I didnt think my experience of Oakley Court Manor could get any better but I was wrong. A Day out on one of the boats was absolutely idyllic. Cooled wine and an amazing top quality picnic was beautiful. Highly recommended

Glorious medieval castle-type hotel. We had a river facing room with stunning views of the surrounding gardens and gothic castle with it's fancy turrets and gargoyles! We were greeted with a glass of champers, and found another bottle of fizz and complimentary chocolate in our room with a lovely card for our wedding anniversary we were celebrating.

There was a saxophonist playing on our first evening so we had a meal on the terrace. The food was okay but very expensive. However this was outshone by the superb ambience and the attentive staff.

Bike hire was free, super bikes and but for the weather I am sure we would have had lovely cycle along the riverside. However on the Saturday rain stopped play so we had a lovely day shopping and sightseeing in Windsor old town centre.

There was a wedding taking place at the Oakley Court on the Saturday so it was all happening in and around the hotel during the Saturday afternoon, but lovely to watch all the people in their finery having such a super day.

The breakfasts were first class, with fresh poached eggs which were hot and runny, and everything else you needed for a full fry up, including cereals, cakes, fruit and so forth. Excellent breakfast.

There was in indoor leisure facility and we had a fab afternoon swim/steam/jacuzzi which was just what the doctor ordered on a rainy afternoon.

All in all I cannot fault the Oakley Court. Nothing was too much trouble for it's wonderful host of staff, very helpful in reception and helping us with our cases etc, they are a credit to the hotel. We will definately be returning.

Room Tip: River facing rooms have best views.
