Owner description: Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out. Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle, which is also used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions.

A lovely return visit from a few years ago. This time we had small children and they were keen to see their first castle. Did not disappoint. Shame about the no photos but I understand why. Thanks to the local police who made the children’s day with their friendly attitude. No long queues for us arriving at 10.30am.

If you love English history, amazing arms and art, this is your place. Well worth the time. If you haven’t done your research, the free audio guide gives great information.

We were very lucky with the weather and queues! We got there about 12 and there weren’t any queues which I believe is quite unusual but we did go on a Wednesday so that may be why. The Dolls House was closed and so was the chapel because of Eugenie’s wedding on Friday but we weren’t told that until we realised we couldn’t get in, no signs or anything. We did get our ticket stamped so maybe visit another time. The staterooms are very good however, so a must to visit the Queens home if you get the chance.

We were lucky to have a beautiful day in Windsor the last Sat. in Sept. I wanted to pre-book my tickets, but couldn't. I was surprised that the wait to get in was only half an hour, but don't chance pre-booking at least a day ahead! The grounds were beautiful and St. Georges Chapel is a must see! After seeing the wedding of Harry and Meghan, it was hard to believe we were standing where it took place! It's disappointing that there's no pictures allowed inside at all! We spent more time on the outside then the inside.
