“Enchanting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 December 2013

After seeing the signs for Dorney Court while driving through Eton, we decided to stop and were lucky enough to find the house open. We were met in the garden by a lovely lady who gave us a private tour of this gorgeous home. It is still a residence and you can feel the love and care it has been given. It is a treasure of beautiful art, stunning architecture and camera worthy gardens. An absolute must-see if you are in the area!

“A beautiful period house”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2013

I have been here many times but only been inside the house once as it's not always opened to the public, and I visited on a school trip with my daughter. They use the house for filming a lot as it's such an old house, it's been in the same family I believe for over 450 years.

“A unique view of history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

Really is a worthwhile visit. Getting a guided tour about the history of a family who has been in the house over the centuries gives a more personal insight into the occupancy.

The staff were amazing and should be hugged on exit. Very knowledgeable and ever happy.

The house is amazing, I haven't been in a house that looks so fragile and interesting. The pictures paint a colourful history as do the furnishings. The exterior is also pretty, and the St James the Lessor church is very interesting too and time should be spent reflecting on the life that has been sown into the home of a community of believers.

I would recommend a few hours to be able to spend in the garden, the more you look, the more you see. Thank you for such a lovely day!

“Beautiful medieval home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2013

This lovely family home is a gem hidden in Berkshire very near the new Dorey Lake Olympic site. A family home dating back to the 17th century with links to King Charles II on the wrong side of the blanket! It has been used for several films and television shows. You need to check their website for opening times. It remains a family home so not always open

“A little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

I have lived within a stones throw of Dorney Court for many, many years but never visited the house, now I wished that I had done so earlier. This family home of the Palmer family really is a little gem. The expert guide brings the whole house to live with an informed and humorous commentary. the tour takes about an hour and during your travels you are taken from Stuart times right up to the modern day. It really is a little time capsule of so many parts of English history. The history of the house and the Palmer family really is a history of Great Britain. Of course, the chances are that you have seen the house in films or television series without ever realising. If you are in the are take time to visit - it really is a must.
It's a good idea to check the website beforehand as there is quite often filming going on here when the house is closed. I choose my day of visit as there was preparation for filming on the next two days, but this was clearly indicated on the website.
