Stayed at the Broadway Hotel for a week recently (after having a leisurely drink there 3 years ago) and love this hotel. One negative was that our room Garrison Savannah (all named after horses) was over the boiler room so it was quite hot and noisy at night. It was always cleaned very well and clean towels every day. We ate at Tattersalls Brasserie for 4 of the evening meals and felt although it was fine dining the food was very expensive so avoided the steaks as they were £20 and upwards. The staff (except one) in the restaurant were very nice and helpful and catered for my gluten free diet which I advised them in advance. It was a beautiful environment in which to eat and understand it was once the courtyard. We ate one of the other nights in their other bar and found the prices still quite expensive and the remaining two nights had an indian meal and fish & chips which was a busy restaurant as it was very small, so other people sat outside. The other hotel restaurants in the village seem to be comparable in price with our hotel. The parking was at the back of the hotel which you had a code to open the barrier and was always nearly full so was best to arrive back from a day out no later than 5 o'clock or not sure where you would park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there but as we have been to the Cotswolds three times, not sure whether we will be staying there again.

Room Tip: Try to pay extra for a bigger room

We've just stayed at Broadway for the 3rd time in 3 years & it never ceases to live up to expectation. The hotel is well situated with lovely public rooms & super staff. However to get a decent sized room you do need to pay a bit more.

We stayed a night passing through Broadway. The Hotel has a good bar and restaurant, the rooms were small but well furnished, the bathroom was small. There was a TV, no cooling suitable to the summer weather and there was no Wi-Fi.

We could hear people walking above us.

Overall we enjoyed the stay, dinner I. The restaurant was excellent.

We booked a 1-night stay here as a stopping-off point.

LOCATION: If you have a Garmin satnav, be prepared to be totally misled by it. We needed two circuits of the town before we realised the hotel was on the other side of the road to where Garmin reckoned it should be, and about half a mile further south! The hotel is set well back from the main street and could be better signposted. Parking is at the rear but access to it is down a narrow side alley by the hotel front.

SETTING: In my view, Broadway itself is a chocolate box version of a traditional Cotswold town. It's all a bit too `twee' for me with its very expensive shops and hordes of tourists. Thankfully the hotel itself is much more down to earth. I love the real oak beams, the higgledy-piggledy corridors and the first floor gallery above the bar en route to your room.

ACCOMMODATION 8/10: we checked-in with a friendly receptionist on a desperately hot, hot afternoon and were offered a choice of two rooms. One directly above the kitchen extractor fans or one that was hotter but less noisy. We chose the latter as I'm a light sleeper. The room was like an oven! It wasn't until we left the following morning that we discovered an electric fan in the wardrobe; pity that someone on the staff couldn't have told us as it would have been a godsend in that room.

The bed was superb. Very comfy mattress, feather duvet, great wide bed... possibly the best we've ever slept in. So too the en-suite bathroom with excellent shower.

DINNER 9.5/10: if there's one thing you must do in your life, forget New York; dine at Tattersalls while the current chef is there. The food is some of the best we've ever tasted! We dined in the Tattersall restaurant and selected two starters each rather than a main and starter; and a pud each. Our scallops came with pickled cauliflower, maple grilled bacon and spiced cauliflower. The balance of flavours and the accurate cooking of the scallops was simply perfect.

For our second starters, I ordered a smoked ham hock ravioli in pea veloute. Again, flavours were outstanding and cooking bang-on. I could've licked the plate clean. My dining partner had pigeon, black forest smoked ham, girolle mushrooms and almond puree which she adored.

Our pudding choices were a dark chocolate fondant for me which was sublimely rich and gooey; and for my partner a pineapple and basil sorbet with coconut pannacotta. While my partner loved the pannacotta she found the clash of flavour between the pineapple and basil in the sorbet to be simply wrong.

BREAKFAST 8/10: traditional English. The bacon wasn't that good: a bit tough and chewy. Poached eggs lovely. Service great.

We've had a drink here on numerous occasions and thought what a great idea it would be to sample the delights of their yummy sounding bar menu. The hotel is in a lovely setting, the bar area itself is light, bright and spacious so where better to spend a mid-week summers evening. We dined in the Country Bar and waited with hungry stomach's and high expectations of a sumptuous meal. I had beer battered haddock, hand cut chips, crushed peas, homemade tartare sauce, pickled onions; on the plus side the hand cut chips were very good - the rest failed to meet expectations the fish was more the size of a fish finger, the batter was mediocre, the teaspoon serving of crushed peas was dry and tasteless and the very large pot of tartare sauce didn't fare any better in the taste department - in fact it was also pretty tasteless. My partner ordered char grilled chicken breast, spiced fried potatoes sweetcorn, red onion and feta salad. What he actually got was a pile of rocket and a very dry, cardboard like small breast of chicken and a bowlful of disappointment. We didn't believe sending our food back would return an improvement on quality sadly, so decided to vote with our feet. We'll no doubt return for a drink, but unless much needed training is provided to those serving the food and a good chef is installed we'll not be dining again. Not value for money, poor quality food and service.

Had a bar lunch with my husband and we loved it. His fish and chips was great especially the home made chips and my chicken salad was lovely. The service was ok but as we sat outside we did not really speak to may staff. Will be going back again.
