Nice spot, usually very good. However, for some reason, the service was well below par on this occasion. Friendly enough, but it took forever to get 4 hot drinks. Don't understand as it was a very quiet day there and they are usually spot on. Don't be too put off by this one review, they are usually fine.

I stayed here during a business trip. The room was quite small, due to the fact that the house has a long history. Nevertheless the room was nice and clean. The breakfast was perfect. I had eggs Benedict which were really great. The evening before we also had dinner and I had a perfect steak of dry aged beef.

Three of us called in for dinner on a beautiful summer's evening last week, while holidaying in the Cotswolds. Like most of the other customers we chose to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. The service was very slow - we waited for approximately 45 minutes between placing our order and the food arriving. However the food was very tasty and couldn't be faulted. The glasses that we were given along with the jug of water were very grubby - they didn't look like they had been washed. We pointed this out to a waiter and they were replaced without issue. What we saw of the interior of the hotel looked very smart. The customer loos were especially impressive.

Twelve of us visited for lunch one wet Saturday. The conservatory restaurant is lovely but given we gave the hotel our menu requirements the night before we went, the service, whilst very friendly was very slow. Not the most amazing food but well presented. Disaoi ting as had been very good when four of us visited for lunch. Will try again and hope for an improvement in flavour and service.

I must admit I am surprised at the wonderful reviews about this hotel. They led us to visit and stay for our Wedding Anniversary two weekends ago - but from these reviews I feel like we must have been staying in a different hotel. Our room was high up, very hot and I was kept awake all night, two nights in a row by very noisy neighbours who kept the TV on all night. I did report it to reception the first night but gave up by the second since it made no difference. Perhaps the walls were too thin! Decor is lovely but heat, no air conditioning, and noise are not. Was it the cheapest room? We would have paid more since it was our Anniversary but were told it was the last room available. Maybe that was the problem! There were some lovely features but I guess it depends where you sleep.

Room Tip: Check which room you are getting when you book - if it's "the last room available" may...

No service if you choose to sit outside but there are plenty of staff wondering around looking blankly at you! We wanted somewhere nice to eat outside, my husband collected menus and our group decided from the menus only when we got to the bar to order were we told they had stopped serving as they were "too busy"! This establishment has more tables than their kitchen can cater for and no customer service. Waste of time and we won't bother returning again!!
