On a family trip to Broadway today, my family and I (including two daughters of 5 & 8) were at the top of Fish Hill in the lovely cold, wet and windy weather so decided to stop for a coffee at the newly furbished Dormy House Hotel. First of all you notice what a stunning hotel it is, in a great location and clearly very tastefully refurbed. Inside is lovely, very nicely and tastefully decorated and we were greeted by an open fire and hello's from guests and staff alike. We sat down in a small but lovely snug/lounge and ordered coffee, I ordered a bacon sandwich and the kids wanted water. The room was very classic and there were plenty of books for the kids and board games. The coffee was excellent, the water was Malvern (about time this was on the menu again) and the biscuits were a lovely surprise for the kids. The bacon sandwich was excellent, arrived on white bloomer bread, small jar of ketchup next to it but it was all on a WARM wooden board, a great touch. My youngest spilt her water and the lady from reception (Connie) couldn't have been better, well done Connie for getting an apology out of my 5 year old. I noticed a small thing due to the spillage but there were napkins in every room, a small but nice touch. All the usual facilities were excellent and we also had a personal tour of the new spa due to open in early Feb, not my thing but my wife thought it looked excellent and to be fair did look very, very nice - I coud be tempted! Overall we were made to feel like we were a full paying guest - excellent hotel.

We had the most memorable festive experience at this beautiful hotel, From the moment we arrived until the day we left (extended our stay for an extra night as we didn't want to leave!) was fabulous! The hotel was furnished to the highest standard, Our room was cosy with a heavenly bed and gorgeous bed linen. The bathroom had a spacious walk in shower and huge fluffy towels. All the staff were incredibly gracious, the food was excellent and very well presented. We will definitely visit again in the near future.

Room Tip: Room 11 is situated in the main house and overlooks a lovely little courtyard

We went here as a Christmas present to ourselves. Location was chosen so we didnt have to travel far.
Negative point first: A few more signs on how to get to the hotel would help.

Else - from arrival to checkout the staff were very helpful. The doorman came to the car with umbrellas....checkin was effortless (just like checkin at the Burg al Arab in Dubai).....the room was excellent....the bar was well stocked....food was lovely.

Really, we could not fault it.

We would return, for sure.

I lauded Dormy most highly in a previous review. We had visited it on a number of occasions and enjoyed it's quiet, grown up, discerning character. However public areas and the conservatory dining room had begun to look tired and a little worn. What an upgrade! Our visit this time was accompanied with trepidation for fear of that familiar feeling of which we'd built may be lost amidst a corporate makeover. Not a bit of it. From the quiet, friendly service upon arrival, a tour around the soon to open astonishing spa, and a comfy new room (7), we were home again. Everything is spick and span. Moreover when one wishes to escape the Adidas clad, Lygon Arms grockle, a quiet, reserved, oasis exists here atop Fish Hill. Expect peace, calm and exquisite service or stay away.

The hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard with a feel of of warmth and welcome. This was our first visit to the hotel and we booked for Christmas Eve lunch in The Potting Shed at 12 noon. The food was lovely, hot and not long to wait and the staff were very helpful. The only downside was that we were placed at a table in a side room with no windows and therefore no view. I thought this was because the rest of the tables were reserved but some were still empty when we left. We did feel slightly cut off from the bar and other guests but didn't let it spoil our lunch. We would go again but ask for a table in the bar area.

Thank you for your review. We are thrilled you celebrated Christmas Eve lunch with us and also enjoyed the food, surroundings and ambience. We are sorry we did not find quite the right personal table on this occasion for you, but are pleased this did not detract from your visit.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay, first night was fine as nobody in the next room, we stayed in a comfy room, number 30 and Sunday night was terrible. There is no sound proofing between room 30 and room 29, this is due to the interconnecting door, you hear every word of every conversation, every cough, sneeze and so on. Called reception at 9pm to complain, they say we will call the other guests and call you back within 10 minutes, they did not. Then the guests next door become even louder, I have to get dressed at 10.15pm and go to reception to complain, I have to demand the duty manager calls the connecting room whilst I am there, at this point it was so bad we were ready for checking out. No sleep all night, took over two hours to get my 2 year old son to sleep as noise so loud. I check out and ask to see General Manager, I am told by reception staff that it is "sorted" and the Sunday night has been credited, I did not want or ask for a credit I just wanted to raise some constructive points to the General Manager, she could not even be bothered to speak with me. The couple in the connecting room were not entirely at fault, the fact is that there is a design fault between rooms 29 & 30 when used and sold as 2 separate double comfy rooms, this needs to be addressed by the hotel as a matter of some urgency.

I booked via Mr & Mrs Smith, marketed as a child friendly hotel, they should say children welcome, this is not a child friendly hotel at all, at breakfast I am told "we have run out of high chairs" only 2 in use but they had run out, can your son at 2 years old sit on a normal chair whilst we try to find a high chair! No children's cutlery or crockery, child's dinner in the Potting Shed served on a very large red hot plate, would not even fit on the high chair tray it was that big, asked for a glass to give him a drink and same fine crystal glass arrives as I am using to drink from.

Hotel is beautiful, staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help, however management need to consider how they market their interconnecting rooms and address the issues raised, equally consider the needs of young children, a 2 year old cannot use adult glassware, crockery or cutlery.

We would not return which is a real shame as we stay in the broadway area a lot.

How incredibly saddened I am to hear that your stay did not live up to expectations.

The Comfy Rooms where you were staying are among our most popular in the hotel and we are sorry that we ran out of high chairs at breakfast.

We strive to do everything we can to ensure our guests are comfortable and well looked after, so I am very sorry that on this occasion we got it so wrong for you and misjudged the situation.

Please can you provide us with your email address so that I can contact you personally to discuss your stay as we would very much like to try and restore your faith in the hotel.

With kind regards,

Sarah Stacey

My girlfriend and I decided to spend Christmas in the Cotswolds and booked Dormy House at the last minute. We could not have asked for more from the lovely staff or the hotel itself. The rooms were warm and inviting, the hotel interior had wood fires burning within each tastefully (for Christmas) decorated room were one was free to lounge around with a glass of wine or cup of tea, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay, and Christmas one to remember. There was even a complimentary gift upon departure, which was a very nice touch.

A perfect Christmas.
