“Lovely hotel...tired spa”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

We have just returned from a weekend at the Lygon. Great deal, staff fantastic, accommodation 'OK'. Not luxurious but fine. The spa let it down a little. Good staff, good facilities but it all looks a bit tired and the pool had floaty bits in it. Overall though vey good value for money and the sun shone which was a great bonus. Would definitely return. What's not to like about being at the centre of such a beautiful village?

Room Tip: The old part of the building is more interesting. Rooms are OK. Bathrooms are good. Could do with mo...

If you want a venue oozing history in the middle of the Cotswolds - stay here. If you want a modern room with good facilties you might be disappointed, The old building rooms are oak beamed, quirky but at the cost of good sized bathroom, modern heating and up to date furnishing. Overall the atmosphere is great, the staff pleasant and the dining "hall" impressive. It's well worth staying for the experience and atmosphere but expect low beams, old furnishings and small bathrooms.

Room Tip: Stay in the oroinal building if you want atmosphere

Just had one night at the Lygon Arms under a Travelzoo offer. We thoroughly enjoyed it at that price! The meals were excellent and good portions of lovely food. Staff were plentiful and friendly. It is a lovely setting in a beautiful village. Even better when the tourists have all gone home

Room Tip: Room 21 got very hot but perhaps we did not master the heating controls!

Just had a great weekend at the Lygon Arms, always wanted to stay here and it did not disappoint! Broadway is a beautiful place and the Lygon Arms sits right in the middle of the village. We were meeting two other couples for a weekend break, check in was very efficient set in the heart of this beautiful old building, we had booked a standard room, and yes ok it wasn't all contemporary and brand new, but I loved it, the charm and character of this hotel actually over takes whether it is modern or not, we had a huge room, huge bed, and a huge bathroom!! the bathroom also had a window, which is brilliant! we were a minute walk through the corridor to the swimming pool and jacuzzi, which was great and a nice bonus to have.
We had everything we needed in our room, large wardrobe, plenty of hanging space, kettle, with tea & coffee & hot chocolate, complimentary bottles of water, large towels etc etc, I booked a while ago and for £112 per room it was a great price. Breakfast the next day is set in the beautiful restaurant, sometimes hotels struggle with staff at breakfast, especially on a Sunday, but staff were everywhere, and nothing was too much trouble, a large selection of cold items are available and cooked breakfasts are ordered with the waiter, we all did very well and ate a great breakfast which set us up for the day. Check out was busy, but I think the hotel was pretty much full, but a small wait in the beautiful hall area was a pleasure rather than a hindrance!
My only two observations, and they are by no means complaints, were the temperature of the whole hotel, it was boiling! but we just left our 2 bedroom windows open, and we thought the bar prices were a bit steep, but this is the norm in most hotels, but we will be back without a doubt! this is a great place for a weekend break! Thank you Lygon Arms!!

Room Tip: Don't be worried by the standard rooms, you are still in this beautiful old building, with the s...

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Lygon Arms with my wife where we had a relaxing and pleasant break.
We stayed in a standard double room which was somewhat cramped but adequate for 3 nights. The bathroom had evidently been recently refurbished and was spacious.
The breakfasts were fine and were included in the price. We did not eat lunch or dinner at the hotel as the prices were expensive. Instead we ate dinner at the Broadway Hotel and had lunch at the delightful Crown and Trumpet Pub which were ideal.
The Lygon has amazing character and lovely public rooms where you can have a coffee and read a book in total relaxation.
I would recommend this hotel for a short break. Service overall was very good

Whether its during the summer, drinking outside or the winter warmed by the huge fires, there is no where Like the Lygon Arms. I have stayed in the Hotel a few times and the food is wonderful and the service is always polite and courteous. I love the place.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely.

We had a great two day stay here - very relaxing with warm log fires. We had two rooms which were at the end of a corridor, away from everyone else - perfect for us and the children. The pool was a little on the cold side, but I was very happy lounging on the recliner with a book. The hotel is old, but is beginning to look a little tired - only one of the showers was working on poolside and the bathrooms are a bit 1980's. The breakfast was a little disappointing. The menu said 'chocolate muffins' - there were none to be found so my son asked the waiter for some, the waiter was very helpful and went to get some muffins. However whilst they were warm on the outside, they were still frozen solid in the centre. The scrambled egg had a very peculiar texture and hue. Stick to the old favourites of sausage/bacon and you will be fine.
