Friendly reception staff at check in. Would be helpful to have clear signage to reception from car park as rather confusing. Lovely large room with very comfry bed and very clean. Room very hot so requested a fan which was delivered instantly.
Staff very informative at breakfast time explaining the breakfast system. Food was delicious and lots of choice.
Only moan is that the spa is in need of some TLC. But again very friendly and helpful staff.
Broadway is a lovely quaint village with an enjoyable circular walk to the Towers. Do visit the Tourist Board in the village where an extremely helpful Mary will give you guidance on places to visits or things to do. Never seen a Tourist Office so full of literature and information, fantastic.

Would definitely visit again in the future.

Room Tip: We had a room in the old part which was clean and spacious.

Myself and my husband stayed here on the first night of our honeymoon (but did not feel the need to publicise this to get any special treatment). Our standard double room was very nice and we made use of the swimming pool and tennis court - finding the spa staff friendly and helpful. We had a two course dinner in the main hall and found the service excellent - the food came promptly and was delicious. We found breakfast to be very good too - my only criticism would be that the eggs benedict portion was too small. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

Having checked out the web site we thought we were staying in a really old English hotel, but after we had checked in we were shown to the back accomodation, which was probably built in the 1980's and was looking very tired. Our room smellt of damp so we complained but the alternative room wasn't up to much either. After having drinks in the lovely court yard we were shown through to the restaurant but there is where the fun stopped! The service was really bad with a total lack of care and attention. The restaurant was really busy that night so i can excuse the bad service to some degree. The food was probably some of the worst i have had to pay for, and i have eaten in many restaurants. If staying at the hotel again i woulfd specify a front facing room and i would book the brassery next door, but in saying that i dont think i will be back.

We stayed 2 nights for the game fair - a last minute booking but the room - even though not in use as the safe was broken and it needed a refurb - was totally adequate.
The staff are pleasant and well trained. The breakfast was terrible. On the first morning we told the waiter our tomatoes and mushrooms were cold but we didn't have time to wait for more as we had waited 25mins already and had to get off to the game fair.
The 2nd morning my hubby ordered bacon, black pudding and poached egg - he got half of one thin slice of black pudding!! (who got the other half?) 1 thin slice of bacon and an egg that was COLD I got smoked haddock, mushrooms and tomatoes - all COLD AGAIN so I sent mine back.My hubby couldn't be bothered he just wanted to leave asap. The waiter didn't offer to take my hubby's b.fast away so I assumed mine would return pronto - WRONG - after 25mins I got up and left the table as I was fed up of waiting and my hubby had been finished for 20mins - absolutely terrible - what is going on in the kitchens? We were charged £180.00 per night for a room that was supposed to be out of use and had a block on it, ,and cold breakfasts with meagre rations. The kitchens at the lygon are letting the place down. I will not go again unless there is a good deal on as it just isn't worth the expense.

We booked a Friday night with friends after a hot busy day at the CLA game fair.
the hotel is beautiful, historical, very picturesque, Chipping Camden is a lovely village with great shopping. However we were led through the original coaching hotel to a 1970`s annexe at the rear, the rooms were clean & comfortable, although both rooms smelt very damp, which was surprising as it was July. We enquired about changing but the hotel was full.
The pool & spa were very welcome as the weather was so hot.
We were looking forward to dinner in the Great Hall, this turned out to be a disappointing experience. The set menu was very limited in choice, there was no a la carte option,
the starters were small but tasty, but all 4 of us were not satisfied with our main courses, which were small portions, very bland & lukewarm, & 2 of the dishes were not as described on the menu.
We had asked for an extra portion of crushed potatoes, much to the consternation of the waiter, this turned out to be a bowl of microwaved exploding new pots.
There was a good continental breakfast on offer in the morning, but the cooked English Breakfast portions were again small, only 1 thin rasher of bacon.
The staff were all friendly & polite, the receptionist gave us a discount on the food as we voiced our complaint, but as this was a treat for us all, we would have much rather had good food and paid the full price.

Room Tip: Try & stay in the original part of the hotel, we were in the modern annex, but no a/c so we lef...

I last visited this hotel some 40 years ago, and it lived up to my expectations. Being in a powerchair, access is always an issue, especially with such old buildings of character but the staff were extremely helpful. Be aware however that they have only one fully adapted room, in the converted stables - a lovely room, leading into the main courtyard.

It worked very well for me - I have read other reviews which mention waits, but I found the breakfast buffet was very comprehensive and readily accessible. I also had smoked salmon generously piled over scrambled eggs - a joy!

Another thing that stands out is the courteous traditional service, and all the food servers wear white gloves - few do elsewhere now.

I was only there for the late afternoon, dinner, breakfast and a late morning departure, but plan to return!

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms open directly onto the patio where drinks are served. There are also small terraces...

We booked for a spa day and lunch and right from when I emailed our booking, staff were attentive and caring, organising our treatment times to suit as well as ensuring I could have the pregnancy treatment I wanted. We were treated like princesses throughout our day and could not have asked for more polite and friendly staff. Special thanks to Rebecca my lovely massage therapist! Lunch was great in the courtyard with all the bunting and pink geraniums. Spa facilities were clean and perfectly adequate for what we wanted. Would definitely return!
