“Charming hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014 via mobile

We checked in here for the may day weekend. We were met as we arrived and our car was quickly taken and parked in their large car park, our room was ready for us, it was a ground floor room. Our room was clean and nicely furnished. Unfortunatly for us the bistro was full on the saturday evening and wasnt open sunday, which as it was a busy and popular weekend was very disappointing. There are a quite a few places to eat in the village, we ate at Pregos which was just about next door and it was very nice.
Breakfast at the lygon arms was very nice, lots of beautifully prepared fruit, fresh bread, lots of juices, meats, cheese etc. If you want hot food it is prepared fresh and served to you.
All staff we came in contact with were very pleasant and welcoming. Overall a peacefully quiet hotel with attentive staff. Thankyou for a lovely weekend.

A fabulous, characterful hotel bursting with old world charm. Ideally situated to enjoy all the delights of the Cotswolds but equally it has enough facilities, i.e. swimming pool, sauna, steam room etc. to encourage you to spend a lazy day without venturing outside. A fabulous restaurant, and scrumptious breakfasts, all of the highest quality. And the helpful and friendly staff added to what was a perfect stay.

Myw if and I have had a love affair with Broadway for about 20 years. Used to bring the kids here to play ball on the village green and buy a few sweets but we always looked enviously at the Lygon and were grumpy at it's then policy of no kids/family rooms.I was always very taken with its history. Now we are older we decided it was time to stay and what have we been missing. It is simply lovely. Better than any Puma we have used.Fabulous building ,excellent breakfasts, attentive staff, great rooms, sublime wisteria and gardens.
Well worth the bit extra you pay. Like stepping back in time. You can almost hear Cromwell and his generals clanking their spurs and swords through the flagstone corridors.Woderful, can't wait to go back.

Lovely historic hotel in a beautiful location. We had a lovely clean and comfortable room with a wonderful four poster bed. The service through out the hotel was first class. We had food served from the bar and restaurant and we could not fault it. Thank you to all the staff who helped to make our stay so enjoyable.

I can safely say that I have never stayed in a better hotel than the Lygon Arms in Broadway. The staff were attentive and friendly, the food amazing, the spa and beauty department excellent and our suite was fantastic. The Lygon is full of old world charm and character and Broadway itself an excellent place to enjoy The Cotswold from.

The Lygon Arms has an almost iconic reputation among people of a slightly older generation. It is THE Place to stay in the Cotswolds - unless you want to really push the boat out and stay in one of the several modernised boutique country house hotels in the same area.

The Lygon Arms is not swish: it is charming, comfortable and very friendly. Cleaning and service are of the highest standard in English terms although Russians and East Coast Americans may find it somewhat quaint and laid back - expectations are different!

The restaurant is good, the portions are quite large for the type of cuisine. On busy nights you might have quite a wait and the noise levels can rise as the arts and crafts barrel vaulted ceiling seems to act as a sounding board but the ambience is good unless you are looking for an intimate dinner. Also the lighting is patchy. Two huge UFO light fittings dominate the whole space, lighting the central area but consigning tables around the walls into outer darkness.

The whole point of the Lygon is tradition and charm and it has oodles of both. The staff are amazing and, even though I'm not so old I'd say it is THE place to stay in the Cotswolds if you are on a sightseeing tour as we were.

Room Tip: Make sure you are away from kitchen noise

An anniversary weekend met with complimentary chocolates in the room and an invitation to the bar for a complementary glass of champagne. Excellent food and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and revisit just a shame about the rain
