I visited the Potting Shed for the first time and was very impressed. Staff were friendly, professional and attentive and the hotel and restaurants are beautifully decorated and furnished. Amazing loos! The Potting Shed was unusual in that it felt at once like a fine dining experience- yet was also very relaxed. The starter and main course were excellent and staff dealt with the beef not being cooked fully enough for my tastes swiftly and politely. The puddings sounded great but were perhaps the one weak point. The savarin was dry and heavy and didn't have enough syrup. The banana cake that came with the caramelised bananas was wonderful, but the bananas themselves were not really caremelised and were barely cooked. Coffee in the sitting room by the fire was lovely. Just one other little thing- it would be nice to see a menu for coffee and soft drinks. Special thanks to the doorman who made us feel welcome and then escorted us to the car with a brolly.
