Firstly may I ask a question? why do people find it acceptable to be provided with a second rate service when using Groupon or Wowchers as a method of payment ? The whole idea being that we are supposed to be buying a great deal ! Not a method of selling the unsuspecting customer a service that otherwise would be confined to the bankruptcy courts. Well our visit to Riverside Hotel Evesham was just that. Turned up after booking three months ago to find the manager had done a bunk and apparently filed for bankruptcy. However one leaseholder to the rescue. Didn't want to let all these voucher holders down apparently. Wish he had as at least we could of asked for our money back and gone to a hotel that had food in the fridge to sell to their guests. This place is currently being kept open on a shoestring. Worst thing for me is the lack of housekeeping. The place is unkempt. Cutlery stained and sticky. No toilet roll of hand towels in public toilet area's. Rooms not serviced very well. The coffee in our room was presented in an open topped container and was just a solid mass so I don't know how long it had been there. Our wk-end was only saved by a conscious effort to stay out of the hotel for ax long as possible. My advice avoid like the plague or possibly catch it.

We arrived 21st march 2014 after purchasing this voucher on groupon thinking it wasnt that bad after reading some reviews...what a terrible mistake!
We turned up and thought the hotel was shut down...it really needs refurbishing.
Once finding the reception which wasnt easy, a lack of signs and direction. The reception which was unattended every time I went there without a bell to ring for assitance and no once was I given an apologie for being made to wait.
when taken to our room, the man who runs the hotel didnt have the key nor did he know where it was - this wasnt very reasuring.
when we arrived in our room...well were do i start...the showers was caked in human hair, the shower head leaked, the shower curtain was held up with a crutch - the type you have when you have broken your leg!! the towels were stained, the mugs provided for cups of tea had hair on them and the kettle had old water inside it. there was no central heating in the room just a tiny old heater which i must admit did heat the room up very quickly.
We felt so uncomfortable in this hotel that we left a day and night early without eating due to dreading the standard of food.
When we handed our key in and making up an excuse as to why we were leaving...infront of other guests the manager said we were the second couple to make an excuse and leave early in the past 5 minutes...does not look good does it??

On the up side we could not fault the bed...it was spotless and comfortable.

this hotel really is faulty towers brought to life. please think twice before going.
anniversary weekend ruined.

We got a deal on Groupon to stay 2 nights here, after booking we read the reviews of the place and were quite dubious about staying here. However when we got here we were very, pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious with a lovely bed and great view. The food was lovely and a credit to Brian their Chef. Tim was behind the bar and always polite and friendly and couldn't have done more for us. Angela is the one that stood out the most though due to her extremely professional and friendly manner in which she ran the hotel. The Riverside comes highly recommended and both myself and my partner cannot wait to visit again. Cat x

Having read the reviews on this Hotel after purchasing a Wowcher deal, I was a bit apprehensive about our stay. There were good and bad points. The location is a bit remote, but that's nice if it's a quiet break you're after. The Hotel has a nice view and with a bit of a tidy up the gardens could be lovely. The Hotel and room was clean and tidy. Nice large TV and a modern electric heater (which was needed as the heating was not working). We used the bar (well stocked) and had a two course dinner, which was very nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ok.

The not so good: Our bedroom had patio doors which opened into a small garden but there was no key for that door, no matter how remote I would have slept better if we could have locked the door. The entire place appeared to run by two men so service was a little slow at times and a bit disorganised.

Overall we had a nice break and paid a low price with Wowcher, I wouldn't pay the full price unless the Hotel has some improvements, so maybe in a couple of years we would re visit.

My partner and I stopped here for one night. We arrived to a very friendly manager whom had a brilliant sense of humour and was very accommodating. Our room was quirky, clean and comfortable. We slept well and enjoyed a lovely breakfast, where nothing was too much.. I hope this hotel goes from strength to strength under the new ownership...

The difficulty finding the place should have been a warning. Poor lighting on entry, poorly surfaced farmyard-type entrance, freezing cold building did not make for a welcome. Some would-be guests had changed their minds and were leaving hurriedly as we arrived. Two more were remonstrating with the only staff member, demanding money back as we checked in. What followed over the 2 nights' stay was quite a mixed bag.
Lovely view of the river, not enhanced by the "builders yard" state of the hotel boundary. No central heating, and nobody was taken in by the "temporary blip" attitude. On 2nd night we were given a tiny hot air contraption. No glasses in bathroom, staff (one man) not easy to find. He was run off his feet. No in-house phone so staff had to be hunted down. Towels not changed though obviously wet. Jacuzzi no compensation for the bathroom
carpet (why?) stained around toilet base.
BUT ... breakfast was fresh-tasting and filling for a day's walking, and the bed was great. We were cold and cross, but somehow felt sorry for whoever is trying to get a living out of this place. If you can't keep your guests warm during a bitter March weekend, you need to think again about running, and charging for, a hotel.

Room Tip: Ask before booking whether the heating has been "repaired" ie installed/replaced.

I booked this hotel for one night on patrolling.com. I checked the reviews after booking (not always the best idea!) Some of the recent reviews were very scathing but this did not deter us from staying. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised and were given a very warm welcome by Mike, the owner. Whilst it's true that some areas are in need of tlc and the plumbing and electrics could do with attention in some rooms, we found our room to be warm, clean and a comfy bed. In view of the circumstances the owner had recently found himself in: the previous weekend his manager and staff did a runner with much of the stock and he decided to honour bookings made and was working round the clock to keep things going and we feel he did a sterling job. Well done Mike! We had an evening meal which was very good (recommend the Thai fish cakes fir starters) and a yummy full English breakfast the next morning. The owner is well aware of all the work that needs to be done and I believe he deserves our support whilst he achieves this.
