We stayed here for one night. Although nice and spacious, our room had a strange smell (perhaps the drains). The whole place was very busy with multiple functions taking place. Clearly there weren't enough staff to cope. Our dining experience had very slow service - it took over an hour to get our starter and further delays for subsequent courses. The staff were very defensive when told about the problems although we were offered a free drink in compensation.
I wouldn't rush back.

This was a very good deal for a night at the Wood Norton Hotel including breakfast and a two course dinner. We were accommodated in the Pear Tree Mews, a converted stable across the yard from the main hotel. The room was clean and newly converted, quiet and comfortable. All facilities were of a high standard and there was plenty of room with a seating area and television. The hotel is situated off the main Evesham road in spacious grounds containing redundant buildings which were obviously part of the previous BBC complex. The building is a gracious stately home with origins connected to the French royal family and containing some very fine panelling throughout the main rooms and hallways - fleur de lys feature heavily. The gardens behind the main hotel have been recently formally planted and there is a very pleasant view. The evening we were there, the hotel had two big functions in full swing. We were called to our table an hour after we had booked and waited a long time for our meal which when it arrived was very similar to a meal served by competitors of Master Chef to the judges - ie beautifully arranged but very insubstantial. Having read the reviews I had made sure my husband and I had a very good lunch! The staff were exemplary, very apologetic and going out of their way to inform us why the meal was so slow in being served and doing their very best to make sure people received their food as soon as possible. It was a very difficult evening for them, and some of the customers were irate which was a shame. The Head Chef hopefully will have learned some lessons from the evening and will make sure that in future if two large functions are booked at the same time as a full restaurant, the kitchen will be able to cater adequately. Breakfast in contrast was well organised and the cooked element arrived so quickly that we hadn't finished our cereal and fruit from the buffet selection! All in all, an interesting break!

We stayed 2 nights on an weekend break.

Lovely old house with character. Excellent customer service. The room was in the main house and was clean and comfortable but not luxurious. It didn't have the wow factor other reviewers have implied. We were promised a room upgrade on arrival (subject to availabilty) but no upgrade was offered at check-in nor explanation why not, Disappointing and I would rather expectations were not set in this way only to disappoint.
We ate in the restaurant both nights. The atmosphere was lovely, and the Service excellent. The food was beautifully cooked and beautifully presented and formed a "5-course meal". However, it was a traditional 3 course meal in reality with small fillers in the form of a volute and sorbet. The courses themselves were very small and although we felt full at the end of the meal we still felt short-changed and would have appreciated slightly larger portions for the main course..
Breakfast was excellent if you chose the full english, but I made the mistake of ordering "Eggs benedict" only to receive a single egg on a thin muffin - which left me hungry and raiding the continental breakfast pastries. Beware if you have a good appetite!
For an expensive weekend I felt a little let down and cannot recommend this hotel.

My wife & I stayed at the wood norton hotel on the 18th of january for my wife's birthday. This is the second time we have stayed here & would say it was even better than the first. Only slight niggle was upon arrival we checked that we were booked in for dinner at 8pm. The receptionist said it hadn't been booked. This happened the first time we stayed, so there is clearly a communication breakdown between reception & the restaurant. However they did fit us in with no fuss even though they were very busy that night. The dinner was fantastic, presentation amassing.
The staff were all very polite & nothing was a problem. Our room was also fantastic.( room 201) in the main house. You could get a rugby team in the shower/ wet room. Breakfast was also a real treat. Nice, clean fry up & pastries etc. we would both highly recommend this hotel & are both looking forward to our next visit. Ten out of ten

Room Tip: Room 201 main house. Fantastic wet room.

I echo what has already been said about the staff - they all tried really hard to make our stay enjoyable and instantly responded to any requests. The room we had in the main house was superb with robes and slippers and high quality towels provided. We had a lovely view of the grounds and felt pampered from the moment we arrived. The scones with the cream tea were the best I have ever tasted! The breakfast choice was excellent including, 'eggs royale'.

There are a few small things I would change - better quality more traditional comfy seating throughout and I would replace all of the paintings on the walls as they are not in keeping with the setting. I would also ask the dinner staff to not continually ask if we are enjoying it - they were trying a bit too hard and it became a bit annoying. The food at dinner was good, but not great - a bit too fussy in presentation for my taste, with the portions being a bit too small.

I must restate that despite these issues we were shocked by the excellent value and left feeling pampered, rested and keen to return.

We spent two nights at The Wood Norton on a last minute whim before Christmas. On booking the informed us that they had Christmas parties booked in for both nights and had chosen our room to avoid us any disturbance. We were in the newly renovated Pear Tree Mews and had a lovely stay with no disturbance at all. We opted for room service breakfast on the first morning and it was promptly delivered and delicious. We had drinks with friends in the bar on Saturday night before going out to dinner. The main building is beautiful and oozing character, we took ourselves into a room adjoining the bar and enjoyed our drinks on the comfy sofa's in front of the roaring fire! Though we had found The Wood Norton by chance we are already planning a return in the summer months to enjoy drinks in the garden and the stunning views!

We stayed a Saturday night with a dinner bed and breakfast deal. The hall has been restored to its former glory with many of its original features and it's situation is wonderful. The welcome was very warm and directions to our room very helpful. We were in the Pear Tree Mews sited next to the hall. The mews are fairly new and everything in the room and bathroom was clean and well cared for. Central heating was terrific and we had a very peaceful overnight. The dinner was fascinating although not overly filling. The breakfast was very well catered for and presentation again was to the forefront. We certainly would recommend to friends and will definitely return.

Room Tip: If you would rather not be in the main hall the Pear tree mews are perfect. There was a party in th...
