We come her quite often, more for a drink than for food but when we do eat here its always excellent.
They have an early bird menu which is a meal and a drink. (in the bar not restaurant), you must try the singapore chowmein, cantenese sweet and sour pork (think thats what its called) and definately the chilli beef.

Staff are very friendly.

After thinking where can we eat in Malvern,We ate at the Star Inn Thursday evening we thought we would try Chinese for a change, There are a few Chinese restaurants in & around Malvern / Powick But they are not much good the food is normally poor so we do not bother.
However we tried the Star & what a great meal we had I chose the Satay Chicken Skewers to start the chicken was really tender & the satay was the best flavour i have tasted for ages they were fantastic. We also had the King Prawns spicy salt & Chilli , this comes out dry not in a sauce the meal is not cheap £11.50 for this but can you put a cost on quality & perfection??? These were the best ive tasted in any Chinese restaurant, The prawns were a good size not small they were cooked correctly not overcooked they were very tender & the taste was truly heaven... The other dish we had was Spicy Crispy Shredded Beef this was too great what a lovely taste the sauce was tremendous as was the beef.
I cannot understand why this Chinese is rated around 30 on Trip Adviser when i look at what is rated better !!!!! this place should be in the top Ten the food is fresh the quality is very good. I can honestly say i have been to China Town in Birmingham & they are NOT in the Stars League.

We will be defiantly be going back The service to was great They do really look after you .
If you want good quality fresh tasting food then try the Star its great>>>>

Great place, the food is excellent. I am a very fussy eater and have eaten at this pub both in the bar and the restaurant. I have also had take away food on a regular basis over the last four months. One only has to observe the large number of people who return on a very regular basis to know that the Chinese Proprietors have got it right. The food is prepared from fresh ingredients which have been sourced with care. The real ales are well kept. The bonus is that Ken and his wife are the perfect hosts always welcoming and with a smile on their faces-they also make a special point of remembering the individual drinks that people enjoy.

Seeing previous reviews and a local recommendation, I was shocked by tonight's meal. Maybe our special occasion coincided with a bad day or staff problems, but as some examples: prawn toast was not toasted but deep fried to a crisp; ribs & satay skewers were so overdone the edges shattered; the egg fried rice was not fried but boiled rice with bits of egg in a solid lump. The worst was the grainy bought- in sauces that I can get in my local Chinese supermarket very cheaply. If this had been a £12 buffet meal I could understand it better - but this was a £60+ meal for 2 without desserts because we paid up and left it all. The staff were kind and attentive, but the food was truly awful.
